Per CFN, it’s official.
The whole Mark Richt Hot Seat narrative is over – he’s not getting fired unless Georgia totally goes into the tank…
Boy, I’ll bet he’s relieved to hear that. All though I guess there’s still a small segment out there asking the question. You know the one.
Isn’t there somebody, anybody, who can fill the hot seat in Athens now?

Not so fast. We haven’t heard from Bleacher report.

Unfortunately for Coach Richt, a portion of the fan base describes “totally goes into the tank” as not winning the national title.

Yep, exactly this.

It isn’t the title. it is under signing. Sticking with a game plan that isn’t working (WLOCP ’14), bone headed play calls (run Gurley), and continued arrests. or suspensions due to breaking team rules which is just general lack of respect for the staff.. When did a UGA player tweet he was staying home for spring break?
He could completely bomb going .500 or even less and not get fired after this year.

Undersigning is no longer an issue
Every coach has made boneheaded play calls
Every team has arrests and UGA’s policies are stricter than most schools, hence the suspensions
Here is an article posted just yesterday on Nick Chubb spending his spring break training with his Cedartown team and coaches:

Oh, well I guess because he didn’t tweet anything about it, it doesn’t count, right?

Undersigning has been the trend until recently
Yes every coach does make bad plays, some more often than others.
AD Policies do not impact Police department policies
Good to read about Chubb, it hasn’t been the trend, How many consecutive rushing leaders have finished out their career without a suspension or being kicked off the team?

Otto, you forgot squib kick! And we collectively just reference 2014.
The hot seat meme is over….but be better than Big 8/12 Mizzou???
Man our standards are really pathetic. Long live 8-5, 9-4, 10-3 RICHT.

In this case, you do not get what you pay for, but, whatever makes the majority of the fan base happy.

Cheer up. Maybe the Dawgs can lose nine or ten games this season, so everyone will see things your way.

Even then fans will want him back. Look at UT people still want Fulmer back. The error wasn’t in firing Fulmer but the next 2 they hired.

You really think the fans make the hiring/firing decisions around here?

Never said they did. Countering the point that “everyone will see things your way”

Not my point. He’s the one who mentioned the fans.

Well, maybe they’ll get lucky some day. It was all worth it just to get rid of Fulmer.

If he didn’t get fired after 2010, he will never be fired and he knows it.

Yes, that would explain all the nervous rumors prior to the Belk Bowl.

You know as well as we all do that Grantham started those rumors. He’s still upset that the naysayers didn’t get Richt fired so that he could take his place.

Look at how close the guy has been.
In 2012, 1 miscue play from the 5 yardline, one score, and he’s vs Notre Dame for an easy BCS natty win.
2 years later, in 2014, 2 plays away from the SEC Championship, both miscues inside the 5 vs SC & GT.
So is Richt poor at red zone offense in big games? No doubt he doesn’t practice this enough. The guys choked inside the 5 3 times. Cost him 1-2 Natty’s.
But anyone calling for Richt to be fired after coming this close 2 out of 3 of the last 3 seasons, is uninformed.
