To be fair, Greyson Lambert deserves to have his departure put in some context.
… And as colleague Andrea Adelson noted, the QB spot has been among the biggest reasons London’s program has struggled the past three seasons, with three different signal-callers leaving Charlottesville for other destinations.
The difference between those transfers and the latest one? Michael Rocco ended up at Richmond, Phillip Sims went to Winston-Salem State and David Watford landed at Hampton.
None of those are FBS programs, let alone SEC programs, which makes the Lambert experiment in Athens all the more intriguing.
Stability at the position has not been the Virginia offense’s middle name during Mike London’s tenure (or even before). Consistent departures would seem to hint at some broader level of dissatisfaction with how quarterback development has been handled.
So rather than this being about his girlfriend, perhaps Lambert decided that if London wasn’t willing to stick with him, the least he could do for himself would be to land with a program that at least has a clue about how to develop quarterbacks.
It ALL may be part of the puzzle with Lambert. Regardless the reason, I hope he enjoys his time at UGA and helps the team in whatever the capacity the coaches give him.

BTW, how did you like the last season of Justified? I thought it was terrific. The finale was spot-on perfect to wrap up a sensational show.

Totally agree, especially with regard to the last minutes of the finale.

My favorite sports radio station in Dallas is called The Ticket and the writers of Justified like it as well. So much so that they’ve named a lot of characters on the show after personalities on the station.

The Ticket guys do some good impersonations and theirs of Chan Gailey is pretty amazing. Feel that people who follow this blog will enjoy this.

With no football or new Justified shows to occupy my time I have gone back and watched the complete season one again and now am in the middle of the Mags Bennett saga of season 2. How many days till fall practice starts?

LOL, that had to be a big part of his choice of locations, especially with the QB issues that LSU and Florida have. But my intrigue is on the other side of the relationship, why would UGA take in a player that seems to have little chance of playing and risk upsetting team chemistry/harmony?
I have to believe it is a true depth concern driven by the staff’s knowledge that one QB is unhappy and leaving, and that would most likely be Park. I don’t think we have major talent concerns, both Ramsey and Bauta (my pick) seem capable at the very least. It was surprising how little Park was even allowed to play in any of the scrimmages this spring. He was either seriously struggling with the offense or was in the Dawg House because what was billed as a three man competition became a two horse race. He seems to be the more probable to be disgruntled and may have a hard time seeing light at the end of the tunnel.
Lambert could be a major surprise I guess but I don’t see him figuring into the mix at this late stage and facing a whole new offense to master. Just a convenient place (with benefits) to get his Masters and be a part of a big time team with an excellent shot to be very good. I know everyone is trying to make this Golson/Lambert issue into a QB problem but nothing else points in that direction. I didn’t see any obvious problems at QB in the Spring Game and the staff and players comments have sounded confident enough. Just the usual pot stirring and nervous worrying by fans with 90+ days to go until kickoff.

When was Park in the Dawghouse? Wasn’t aware of anything except a lesser Spring Game for him. Thought it was pretty meaningless and really didn’t see where everyone was down on him.
Heard people touting their favorites and always have thrown his name in because he was in the mix and didn’t want everyone’s exuberance for the other two to demote him. Maybe we shouldn’t try to explain his leaving before he really has given such notice. We may be doing him an injustice by continually pushing his name out there as if to say “Please leave.”. He may have never had such intentions for all we know and conjecture is all I have read. If there is more, I’d sure like to know. His description of himself with the Scout Team is the lowest rating I’ve seen concerning his prowess. The reports from the QB camps he attended before coming here had him as the best one out there and one of them was in ‘Bama.
It really isn’t fair to him to keep projecting what we think will make a flavorful QB soup, is it? Certainly, the Scout Team and the coaches haven’t put him down, rather, they have good remarks for him. I like the guy and think he brings something the other two don’t (as described by the coaches). Let’s don’t run him off when he’s busting a gut to compete. I realize that you may be saying something to show him we understand if he leaves, but let’s let him pull the trigger before we run him off with our good wishes.

Park is a good ways behind the other 2 guys. And will probably fall to 4th string whenever Lambert gets comfortable with the playbook.

How do you know this? Where has he been rated by the coaches who see him every day? If you count up comments that are negative like that, you end up with a whole shitpot of them made by fans like us who don’t have inside info or are still using the Spring Game as a yardstick. Hell, everyone in Dawg Nation knows that stat. That one instance doesn’t mean squat to those who view him every day. If the other two are so far ahead, why haven’t we heard who the QB is for next year?
My post was a request to be fair in judgement of a good QB and a good Dawg. Heard some of the same vs Mason before he took the reins. We need to understand that sometimes comments are made so often that they become fact in our blog and are unintentionally unfair to the player. How would you like to have a football career in HS that leaves you with the choice of two top teams in the SEC(Bama wanted him and took Cornwell after Park picked UGA), work like hell getting the Scout Team ready to emulate opponent’s plays every week and then get talked down?. My point is that the only negative baggage he has is a perception rendered from the Spring Game and one comment that the other two “may” have created a separation. Since then they all have been working hard according to reports.

LOl. Pryor was one of my favorites. And I was that guy that listened and memorized his stuff and eventually did my standup post parties. Lot of fun and a lot of requests . I once did my Richard Pryor Vampire routine in the chem classrooms. Must of been 80 or kids in there one night prepping for an exam. TA running the overhead and I jumped on the microphone. Lucky I didn’t get in trouble. Lotta fun.

Decision making and calculating angles/options/depth/windows that close – all at SEC (Near NFL) speed is what is going to decide the UGA QB race.
If it doesn’t separate out, you got to go with Bauta for the most part.

Just watched the UVa ‘Highlights’ of that game. Lambert looked awful, and neither UVa QB be the mechanics or throwing motion we’re use to seeing. They both looked like they were putting shot to me.
