I ain’t wastin’ time no more.

What do you get when you combine a heralded recruiting class, a talent base that needs replenishing in certain key areas, a cupcake opener and Jeremy Pruitt?  Well, you get this.

19

Georgia true freshmen who played on Saturday: Rico McGraw, Juwuan Briscoe, Jonathan Ledbetter, Kirby Choates, Roquan Smith, Terry Godwin, Natrez Patrick, D’Andre Walker, Deandre Baker, Jarvis Wilson, Jonathan Abram, Rashad Roundtree, Juwan Taylor, Nick Moore (walk-on), Michael Chigbu, Trent Thompson, Jackson Harris, Chauncey Rivers, DeQuan Hawkins. (Junior college transfer Chuks Amaechi also played.)

Nineteen true freshmen?  I think that deserves a “wow”.

Remember when Richt thought it was a good idea to redshirt Knowshon Moreno?  Good times.

  1. Roquan seemed to be the 1st guy down on every kickoff. I should have bought the program yesterday to make sure I picked up on everyone who played.

Although recruiting has picked up, it’s not like UGA didn’t have top-10 classes before. I think this is more due to a philosophy shift…and I love it. Nothing motivates and teaches like live game experience. Not to mention it’s a nice reward for all the hard work the kids put in. I understood calling the game, but I sure would have liked to see more of those guys…and AJ Turman and Bauta.

It isn’t as much a philosophy change at UGA as a recognition that top talent is going to leave in 3 years, and the incoming class is watching which coaches do/don’t play Freshmen. It is closer to extortion that a new philosophy. And to their credit, many of those true freshmen have made significant contributions when given the chance. I am with you, those that earn the coaches’ trust should get rewarded.

if we had played the 4th quarter that number would be in the twenties. Got to be good for team moral… and cruitin.

Tracy Rocker’s published comments on Trent Thompson were spot on. Kid’s a great prospect, but has much to learn from Rocker.

Big time raw talent but he was blown up every play that I saw him. Welcome to the bigs…

Same here. I kept expecting him to shut down ULM all by himself, from all the hype, but he looked like a kid in his first college game..but he’ll get lots better real soon….according to the ‘sperts.

Yall need to watch the film closely to see some of the double teaming he got when they ran right through his position – ULM had the word out on him. He did a passable job, but I’ll bet his learning curve has been shortened for future games.

Just imagine what this kid will do as a Soph. after a year with Mr. “go get me a leaf, punk”. Scary.

But no freshman OLs played. What’s up with that Coach Sale? Rocker’s getting plenty of his newbees in the game.

Just look how we played when we put Long in at center. I’m sorry but if Kublanow gets hurt our Oline will not be as good. Also on the sack up the middle Chubby missed his block big time since the guy came totally free into the backfield right up the gut.

Right on Chubb and it resulted in a sack of Lambert, but I thought Long was in there for our last TD that showed our prime mode of moving down the field on the ground with great blocking at the nose. Thought the announcer (Stinchcomb?) even said that.

I’ll give it a wow. While there were hiccups here and there, our Bulldogs didn’t play like there were 19 freshman on the field. That’s exciting.

That is serious leverage with recruits. “We played 19 true freshmen last weekend.” You want early playing time? Well when we say it, it’s not just happy talk.

Remember the years when we didn’t sign enough kids to play 19 true freshmen? Straight up Dawg Porn to my ears.

Every time I hear that song I think of the 1972 football season…sigh…pretty sure that’s when the song was played on the radio.

Methinks we’re somewhat better this year than we were in 1972.
