It’s a legal matter, baby.

I didn’t blog about the Isaiah McKenzie story yesterday because I was swamped at work, but also because of this:

According to an Athens-Clarke County police incident report, McKenzie is accused of “making terroristic threats” to a female complainant at the Chili’s restaurant on Alps Road at 10:28 p.m. Monday night. A woman named Maya Labat claims McKenzie told her “he was going to call some friends and they were going to come out and he was going to kill her,” according to the report.

However, officers interviewed witnesses at the scene, saw no reason to arrest McKenzie and no charges were filed.

I mean, damn, if the A-CC PoPos can’t be moved to arrest a Georgia football player, how big a deal could it be?

  1. Surprised it wasn’t the headline of ajc.

  2. Maybe the ACCPD has changed it’s policy and now actually needs factual evidence to make an arrest.

Well, if it is true, I’d like to see NuRicht say we’re going to play him pending an investigation and while he gathers facts. There’s certainly enough plausible deniability.

The culture change extends beyond the players and coaches. Morehead has had a sit down with ACCPD and UGAPD. While I am not an advocate for preferential treatment for athletes, I do appreciate levelheadedness and feeling like our athletes are not law enforcement targets. Helps level the playing field a little.

Maybe they hate Bama enough to not arrest a UGA player this week…

Maybe the Athens cops went to a seminar given by the Tuscaloosa PD.

Who goes looking for trouble at Chili’s? It sounds to me like a waitress got stiffed on a tip after the table of players ran her ragged, then smarted off. Someone else smarted off, it escalated, and someone called the police. At least I hope that’s all this is.

  13. Oh goody! something for sports talk to cover 24-7 until game day. This morning for their closing bit on 93.7 they asked callers if they ever made a death threat.

Fortunately for them this happened, otherwise might be expected to do some analysis or something sports related.

Tell me one other SEC school where an incident like this would even get press. I’m all ears.

  14. The waitress should have thought those friends that are coming were members of ISIS. So the police just need to verify any connection to ISIS. LOL.

Once the COA kicks in, players will be able to afford to eat at Chili’s AND leave a tip. Things like this won’t happen.

Many of the media headlines are making it look like 5 members of the UGA football team joined ISIS. Some of the comments from opposing fan bases like Alabama, Auburn, and Tennessee are too ridiculous to even be mad at. Seeing “thUGA” being thrown arounda lot. The best comment I’ve seen so far is from a Bama fan who claimed that “UGA was going to sweep this under the rug like they always do, and wait until after the Tennessee game to do anything about it.” That has to be a joke, right?

  17. The bad thing is that she is the daughter of the head of Atlanta Dept of Corrections. Lol. 680 has been all over Bammer and Saban’s nuts this week so they were carrying on about how they should be working hard and starting on campus instead of out on the town. Indentured servitude is alive and well.

Now I remember why I stopped listening to that station. If they aren’t on Bammer payroll then I don’t know what to think.

Guess Pruitt will be giving Bobo a call to come join him and get away from the bad atmosphere at UGA?

It wasn’t right. It was a bad deal. And it will forever be in the mind of Jimmy Williamson and in the mind of our police department.

McKenzie, the alleged human “joy stick” by some, is what coaches call a high maintenance player on and off the field.
He goes out and can not control himself in a restaurant. He may have escaped the law, but not CMR. One miscue on a punt return team and CMR will put the kid on the bench for awhile.
Speculation is IM will have another incident in the near future, but will not survive.
Big game in town with all kinds of news coverage and this is what he does…threatens someone’s life.

Facing a top team and program this weekend.
Dawgs record under CMR against top 15 teams is not very good. And the question of winning big games looms.
Tthe human joy stick is out pissing around.
No doubt CMR is going to handle this internally. Like a call to the Seiler’s for dimensions on UGA’s doghouse and the length of the leash…dare both will be smaller and shorter for McKenzie’s to enjoy.

Will, and I do realize I do this at my own peril, you do, of course, realize that Alabama and the Sabanator are 4-4 in their last 8 games vs. top 15 competition. They are 1-4 against teams in their 5 games vs. top 11 competition. Richt and the Dawgs are also 4-4 in their last 8 games vs. top 15 competition and 3-2 in their last 5 games vs. top 11 competition. But please keep telling me how much better of a big game coach Saban is than Richt at this point and how Bama always beats the ranked teams and Richt never does.

I know. I’m sorry guys. I should stop using facts.
