“We figured we’d give that a shot and see how that worked.”

For those of you who’ve complained over the years about the disparity in travel between Georgia and Florida for this week’s game, how does this news sit?

For the first time since head coach Mark Richt took the Georgia job in 2001, the Bulldogs will travel to Jacksonville on a Thursday.

School won’t be in session at the university on Friday, meaning Georgia has the opportunity to get down to Saturday’s site a day in advance. The thinking behind this is to ensure the players get enough rest leading into this week’s game against Florida.

Georgia will look to leave for Jacksonville on Thursday evening.

“We felt we could get in there and get a good night sleep and let them sleep in a little bit Friday and then get into our normal routine on Friday,” Richt said.

Going down on Thursday?  Hey, that’s worked for me and my group for 35 years now.  Can’t hurt.

  1. Just make sure they don’t end up at Frat Beach, Coach! 🙂

I am all for it. Since there are no classes to attend why not travel a day earlier?

Well, heck, if they’re letting them sleep in on Friday morning, why not let the boys go on down to the Landing and see what all the fuss is about?

Small things matter in this rivalry.

Interesting..The point was made during the FSU-Nerd game, that FSU always does this..arrive on Thursday. How they can miss all of those friday classes, who knows?
As a person who never sleeps well his first night away from home, I can say this would be huge to me…I believe it will help..get a good nights sleep on Friday night.

Did we just find the missing piece to resolve Lambert’s issues? Fantastic news.

When I was going for Cocktails on a regular basis, we always left on Tuesday so we could stop to water the horses a couple times.

Getting there on Thursday allows you to recover from the hangover from the first night before the game.

Not a bad thing apparently cause we sure seemed to play better then.

And yes, there was “some damage done” hee hee

With the crumby weather early this week it’s too bad they can’t leave today to get in some outdoor practice in jax.

Here are my thoughts on Jax… We had a bye, they had a bye – wash… everything else – wash… Its a big time rivalry game that is going to be heated with fairly equal talent on each side getting after it for 60 minutes. Throw out the stats and the records. No one ‘cept the good Lord above knows what is about to transpire on the St. Johns in a few days.
