That wasn’t so hard now, was it?

McGarity finally uses the correct language.

Georgia athletics director Greg McGarity ruled out this scenario Monday. In an email to The Telegraph, McGarity was asked whether any discussions have taken place to move the Georgia-Florida game up a week and if this is a scenario the athletics department would consider.

“Nope. Not an option,” McGarity said.

And that’s the way it should be.

In the immortal words of Rod Tidwell, you’re a little slow, but you come around.  I’ll take it.  Thank you.

Finally. It took him long enough.

Whose huevos did he borrow? When you brought the issue up yesterday my only thought was, “Damn it, that’s exactly what’s gonna happen, McG is gonna roll over like a whipped dog for these jackasses.”

Yeah, but that’s the thing about “kindas” and gutless weasels, there’s always room to wiggle and the weasel never leaves home without an excuse in his back pocket.

I was also amazed he didn’t come out sooner with an emphatic “No Way!”. As others have mentioned, the WCLOP isn’t just another football game, but rather a weeklong experience with golf tournaments, pep rally’s, bonfires on the beach and HOF induction ceremonies not to mention all of the festivities on the nearby islands and landing. The event isn’t something that easily gets moved at the last minute without major financial and emotional costs for both UGA and UF fans.

One would assume Kirby had some input into this situation, too.

  6. I mean, if he couldn’t keep that from happening, he’d get fired. That day.

It isn’t only the hoi polloi who take time off from work and spend money to rent a place on Amelia or St. Simons for a fall break. One thing about Georgia people, you can win or lose, but you better not cack up our good times.

Only the hoi polloi have the connections to shot callers, though. If the shot callers were fine with it, McGarity would agree to play the game in Gainesville at Florida’s convenience. He cares about as much for what normal UGA fans think, want, or find inconvenient as I care what color visor Gus Malzahn wears when he showers.

Sounds like somebody saw Joe Alleva’s press conference and said, “wait, is that what athletic directors are supposed to do? Watch out for your own school and tell everyone else to pound sand?”
