Well, everybody’s not happy.
“Georgia’s 4-3 and they’ve looked ugly doing it. They’ve had moments where they can’t run the ball and so they’ve got to get back on track, and they’re going to try and do it against a really good Florida defense.”
Barnhart emphasized how important this part of the season is for Smart and Georgia to rejuvenate the team and the program.
“Kirby knows they need to play better than they’ve played,” Barnhart said. “Georgia’s season, guys, every year is pretty much defined by Florida, Auburn and Georgia Tech. Georgia has hit that span now.”

Georgia needs to play football, on both sides of the ball, from the appointed time at which the football is designated to begin until such time as the football is over. Do that, and they should be able to secure a football result of some kind.

That actually sounds more like a typical UVa fan conversation. While tailgating at a UVa game last year, the conversation seemed to center around “the most quarrelsome matter regarding the recent play on the fields of football.” Oh, and shameful Yuan currency pegs, along with falling Whole Foods stock.

As a writer I would point out that the ability to succinctly present the CW is not without value. I’d rather read Barnhart that any number of “unconventional” blowhards who just make stuff up. But I’d rather read Bill Connelly–and of course, the Senator–than any of them.

I guess it would be unsporting of me to point out to Mr. CW that we are a knocked down pass at Missouri and one bad defensive assignment miss from being 1-6, too. Possibly 0-7, save for Nick Chubb’s stellar performance in the opener. So, maybe 3-4 is about right, breaks-wise.

You could make that argument for a lot of the middle of the pack teams year in and year out. Most are a busted play here or there away from one-two more losses or wins. That’s football. Hell, Ohio State just lost on a blocked field goal and they are an elite team.

Ohio State also didn’t struggle to beat any team as bad as Nicholls and didn’t lose to a team as awful as Vandy.

You seem to be excusing the performances against Nicholls and Vandy as “just football” from a middle of the pack team. They weren’t … they were epically bad performances where we were fortunate to win one and lost the other.

Special teams is a part of the game. Florida has possibly the best special teams in the conference. There’s never a good excuse to lose to Vandy especially at home.

Also, a busted play cost us the Tenn game. That has nothing to do with how we played overall in either game, which is what you are harping about, not me.

Maybe you didn’t get the point. Mr. CW spins that we could easily be 6-1, and everyone would be happy. He skips past the fact that we could just as easily be 1-6, at which point I assume almost no one would be happy. My conclusion was that at 3-4, the breaks have kind of evened out and we are what we are at this point, which is not too good. Not sure where you’re going comparing us to TOSU. They’re clearly elite. We clearly aren’t even average.

Kirby has lost the luxury of sticking with the process. He needs wins from here on out… 8-4 is probably best case scenario but 6-6 or worse is staring him right in the face. Curious to see what offensive scheme and play calling we see to try and get thirty points on the board. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Lambert get some snaps in the next few weeks. But banging our head against eight and nine man fronts trying to establish the run to open up the pass is no longer an option to salvage this year and get some momentum heading into the off season… or at least make a bowl.
