So glad Richt is gone. Watching D Brown destroy our weak O Line last night just reminded me how much talent he let get away. And watching all those Georgia kids playing OL for them while they gashed us too.

OK, I’ll bite. I have a feeling that BM wasn’t helping him like they could or should have and he was tired of the BS from BM. Richt seemed burned out. I think he was doing the best he could under a somewhat hostile work environment. After a while it can be tiring to work where you feel you aren’t wanted. It might not be as good of a job as you would like to do but it can very well be the best you can do under the circumstances. In the end the separation was the best for both parties in the long run.

Agree 100% Eddie! Anyone who’s worked for a boss that inherited you and really doesn’t want you around, so they try their best to run you off can relate to the situation with Mark Richt. I think a change was needed for all parties and glad it’s worked out well for both CMR and UGA.
The Auburn loss is very disappointing, but I also remind myself that virtually no one expected us to win the CFP this year. Most people including myself expected us to win 9-10 games and the SEC East with a possible Big 4 bowl, which is exactly how things are tracking. Anything more is bonus at this point of our transformation, so I try keeping it in perspective.

Richt wasn’t exactly getting much support from the athletic department.
I think McGarity’s plan was to deprive Richt of resources until he had a bad enough season to justify firing him. But that didn’t happen, so McGarity et al just went ahead and fired him after a disappointing season. A very passive-aggressive way to manage.
A coach should receive 100% support from the administration right up to the moment he or she is fired.

I’m very glad for Coach Richt one of the few good Christian guys coaching. Considering the many egomaniacs coaching and running college football today he’s a breath of fresh air. Rooting against good people is just not right.
There are some of us that have had continued concern about our offense all along. It is obvious in college football you need to have a diversified offense to win against elite teams. The lack of game practice on throwing the balk down the field , creative scheming with screens and draws and the undying love of slamming the ball in the middle of the line all point to a lack of understanding of the game today. No one is running against elite defenses without being able to do other creative schemes. We can still win out and get in, but it will take some turnovers and our defense showing up to play.

Some of that lack of diversity may be because of Fromm’s limitations. We for example, do not throw it over the middle and I think that’s because we don’t trust the true freshman to execute well there. Give him some years under his belt and I think you’ll see Georgia attempt a more passes and add more diversity to the mix.

DoubleDawg, I sat in the stands last night wondering why the vast majority of Fromm’s throws were to the sideline. You response above about the staff not trusting Fromm is one of the reasons I came up with as well. If there is another explanation I could not find it, outside of Fromm not looking in the middle of the field. Yes, the OL and DL were the main reasons for our loss last night. That being said, Fromm certainly did not do much to help matters out.

Pretty damned sure you are right, yesterday’s play calls looked a lot like last year. At this point of the season, Fromm isn’t exactly a freshman any longer. Time to trust him, rather get beat firing shots than leaving our gun in the holster. I have seen some pretty good throws in the middle, despite what old Chauncey from FU said.

Reopening the Hartman Fund donation period for incremental revenue was more than just asinine – it was terminally stupid. The UGAA has taught the donor base to hedge our bets and see how things play out over the course of the season and THEN open up our wallets: “See, I don’t have to stroke a huge check in the spring! I’ll just throttle back my Hartman fund donation a bit and see where things stand midway through the season.”
Incentives matter, y’all.

That, and the run-first offense can have some issues when they meet the rare team that can stop the run. Bama survived, but ND and UGA had issues going to plan B. Not one of Chaney’s finer games (because I think Fromm can pass, Auburn’s secondary was their weak point, and it’s not like we didn’t have WRs/TEs to test that.)
Upside is there isn’t a d-line like that left on the schedule unless Auburn beats Bama in 2 weeks and we get a rematch.

I really expected the “U” to (what was the old saying?.) shit the bed , because as most to the loud mouthed Richt bashers said ad nauseam that is what he and his teams did and do.. Team is in good shape physically and has two games to fix the issues along the lines.
They also need to get better at managing the clock and I’m not talking about Fromm. The end of the half looked a lot like last season. They let Auburn off the hook with less-than-aggressive play calling not exploiting the weakness in their secondary. Still a second-year head coach.

Eh. What bothered me was the coaching. Playing scared for a FG with a guy who isn’t the most reliable kicker in the world. No apparent adjustments at halftime. The just pure predictability and stubbornness by Chaney. All year every time Chubb is in the game you know he’s running it up the middle. Against shittier teams Chubb is strong enough to eventually break one. It was pretty obvious he wasn’t going to yesterday.

Our worst case scenario is what?
My Kentucky friends are dreading Saturday. One’s exact wording was “We are going to be pillaged”—- So we win huge Saturday. Lose to Tech because it would be the most awful thing. Auburn, meanwhile, upsets Bama and we have a rematch with Auburn for the SECCG that we win. But we win with 2 losses and no Playoff appearance. Then the icing on the cake, Alabama slides into the 4th playoff spot with 1 loss. My Munson is showing.

At this point, though, I think I’m pretty happy regardless what happens because I figured we’d be a 10-win team this year, and I figure we’ll get there no problem. Heck. Even if we lost to Tech and Auburn/Bama, we could still win a bowl and come out with 11 wins. I’d consider that amazing and unexpected (although hoped for) in Kirby’s second year.
