I heard it on the Internet, so it must be true, a continuing series

This popped up out of nowhere Friday.

Knowledgeable prediction?  Wishful thinking?  Random click bait?

Whatever the explanation, “near future” is doing a lot of work there, seeing as both schools have schedules locked down for several years now.

    We have room from 2022-2024.

Three? Would mean a home and home and a neutral site thrown in? Or three neutral site games? Or the good old Georgia way…@ Clemson, @ UGA,@ Clemson.?

3 games? Must be a neutral site deal involved IF this is true.

Maybe we could play the third game at Tech since both fanbase are already very acclimated at taking over Bobby Dodd. It’s a sort of home game for both teams!

Too many fans could not be accommodated in that bandbox of a stadium, plus they could not handle the needed parking for a full house. They would also have to warn spectators to be wary of spiders as those webs last a long time when remaining vacant for years.

We have to water down the home schedule as much as possible to maximize profit.

I would much rather see a home and home with Texas or Michigan or Stanford. There are stadiums I want to see and I am not getting any younger. Why would we go home and home with Clemson. I know it is usually a great game but they are already recruiting strong in Georgia. It just seems like if Kirby wants to build the brand and recruit nationally he would go to places that most benefit the program from a geographical standpoint. I have seen Clemson. It is nice but lets take this show on the road.

    • The 2003 game cured me of any desire to watch another game at Clemson. For an engineering school, that is one poorly designed stadium, at least for visitors. And running out of ice during the first half on one of the hottest days you can imagine didn’t help.

Add in the one road in, on road out nature of the place, and they can have it.

3 of the worst stadiums I’ve ever been in are at engineering schools: GTU, Clemson and Auburn. Tech has cleaned things up a little bit. Remember when you could lose sight of the ball behind a pillar, or the upper deck overhang? Good times.

I’m not saying the home crowds at Clemson or Auburn aren’t loud and enthusiastic. But, the actual stadiums are dumps. Auburn is almost impossible to get in and out of, if you are sitting in the upper deck. Hate that place. At least Clemson has a lake.

Hell, you ain’t playing in Atlanta or even Athens. Clemson is a one horse town, even if it is the 21st century. I know, my uncle and my first cousin went to ClemPson. They are worse than the Orange Hicks from UT.

You make a good point that deserves consideration. This will only help Clemson.
On the other hand, it gives Georgia fans the opportunity to travel to a big-time game without buying a plane ticket, etc.
The big loser in this would be USCe. With all the attention and glory that would come their two biggest rivals way, the Gamecocks would be shaded out. Can you imagine how they would feel about the game? Not that I care, but for them, it would truly be a meteor game.
I think CKS will have the final say. He will know the ins an outs of the deal and make the best decision for the program.

I’d rather fly to Sydney to see a Georgia game than make that shit show drive to and from Clemson.

          Hey, it could happen. https://www.sydneyunigridiron.com/

Hmmm. The Sydney Opera House, or the Esso Club? Both indicative of the local culture. Both cities inhabited by natives with almost indecipherable accents, who like beer, which tends to make them even more indecipherable (this applies to Baton Rouge, too, come to think of it).

I’ve been to Clemson. Didn’t care for it. Let’s try to make Sydney happen!!!

The ones you mention are great for fans. However, the players are here. Lots of recruiting battles between these schools. We benefit from going head to head with our recruiting rivals. We don’t need a perennial playoff contender 60 miles from campus. We need to knock them off as often as possible.

All 3 games in Jacksonville because it helps recruiting and rewards all those south Georgia fans.

It’s a lot easier for Clemson to run the table in the ACC than for us to do it in the SEC. If we beat them head-to-head and both finish with 1 loss, the Playoff Committee should take UGA over Clemson. I like it. It’s a way to better control your own destiny.

Excellent point, but your thinking seems way above that in BM. While I favor a legit OOC power every year, and enjoy regularly staying in touch with the Clemson history, I also agree that a home and home with teams like Texas, USC, State Penn, Nebraska, etc., should remain a priority. Fans deserve a quality OOC home game every other year, and a new opportunity to experience other big game environments regularly.

With GT on the schedule, it would be somewhat of a suicide to play another Power 5 team OOC every year. JMHO. We already play more Power 5 teams OOC than most any other SEC Team.

GT stinks. There are tougher mid-major opponents.

How can you say that? Suicide to take on another Power 5 team because we already have to play one mediocre Power 5 team? That is not saying much about UGA. Anyone who cannot take on more than that is not ready for primetime, I think you are underselling our program…make that seriously poor mouthing. I don’t know how you belong in the Top 25 if that intimidates you, much less the Top 10. GT is such a joke, we need a decent, ranked OOC game every year, imo.

If Clemson goes 11-1 and wins the ACC with a loss to us, they will still get in as ACC champs most years. If we go 12-0 and don’t win the SEC, we probably don’t go even if we beat Clemson that year. We certainly wouldn’t go INSTEAD of them in that scenario.

Be glad y’all get to talk about this series with Clemson maybe happening. Texas, Michigan, Ha! They will never play us. They had decades to play us and after the South Bend Take Over no team wants a red wave of cell phones in their faces come 4th Qtr. You think lazy ass Butts-Mehre is going to put forth the effort to even phone a school for a series? Clemson must of called us. We’ll do nothing and panic and give some crappy Austin Peay a million at the last minute for a game. Ain’t gonna be no school from Georgia — who’s fans will snap up the tickets and not let them get re-sold like some weird foreign, school. Heck, now we get to play Virginia in a kickoff “Classic.” Expecting creativity and courage in scheduling from our program is a PIPE DREAM! If you think they’re sitting around thinking “hmm, where do our fans want to go this year”? Think again. Hell, they raised prices and there’s a waiting list for this year’s slate of games. Damn, it ain’t obvious? Until the schedule bites us in the ass (repeatedly, we won’t learn the first time) we ain’t playing nobody and riding the SEC East title and playing in the SECCG as our resume and that’s it. BTW, what has Michigan or Texas even done to deserve to play us since the CFP era started?

Other than that, some great matches we might get in bowl games if we don’t take care of business in season

Agreed Texas Michigan and certainly Ohio St are not happening as OSU backed out However B-M should still call other schools. UGA took over Az St and was able to schedule OOC. UCLA is still on the schedule even after ND.

OOC games likely won’t be what some fans want but UGA can still schedule P5 OOC home and aways. I’d still like to see FSU, UNC, and possibly VaTech.

Y’all are nuts. I’ve been to most major CFB stadiums, and Clemson ranks near the top in terms of structure, pageantry, and cordiality of home fan base.

Granted, I missed the 2003 water fiasco.

Sounds ok to me. I still would like to see a 3 game series with Army. One at West Point in Michie Stadium, two in Athens. They would agree to it. Michie is small, but it is an incredible place and history oozes from the walls. Spent many a Fall afternoon there and it would be an awesome experience for Dawg fans.
