Boy, who could have seen this coming, eh?
How — ironic? fitting? — would it be for John Jancek to wind up being the downfall of Mike Bobo?

Colorado State allowed 8.4 yards per play to Hawaii last week. Now allowing 11.5 per play to Colorado.
Rams were No. 110 in yppD last year, and things are not good this year under new DC John Jancek.

“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23
Bobo wants a DC that knows how to get his guys off the field quickly so the offense can do their thing.

Jancek destroyed Georgia’s LB crew when he was here and busted scoreboards follow him like the plague. What could Bobo have been thinking other than hire somebody quick, easy and cheap?

Forgive me- What’s the story on Jancek?

Bobo tried to hire a better DC, but he was turned down several times. I’m not sure why he has struggled so much to find someone good. I was also surprised that Charles Kelly would rather the be the Special Team Coordinator under Pruitt than the DC at Colorado State. You know Bobo’s offense will be good. All you have to do as a DC is be competent.

Damn, does this sound familiar….

Bobo’s vaunted offense is averaging less than 24 points a game this year. That’s not exactly above reproach.

I wasn’t bringing this up but now that it is a topic….. that game reminded of the Martinez years, crap D, Special teams errors, D gets a turnover late procedure penalty sets up a 3 and out for the D to get another stop and the Offense then gets moving.

Are you joking? He just signed a extension. He’s a great coach and had had good success at Colorado State.

No he hasn’t.

Bobo, a former Georgia quarterback and longtime assistant coach at his alma mater, has guided Colorado State University to a 21-17 record and three straight bowl appearances. The Rams, who went 7-5 overall and 5-3 in the Mountain West this season, face Marshall (7-5, 4-4 Conference USA) on Saturday in the New Mexico Bowl. CSU lost to Nevada in the 2015 Arizona Bowl and to Idaho in the 2016 Idaho Potato Bowl.

I pulled this from an article I fond from Google. It seems pretty success to me.

Are you joking? Bobo has had three straight 7 win seasons with a program that won 10 games the year before he arrived, and he’s off to an 0-2 start in 2018. Coaches get fired after signing extensions all the time. The amount of money CSU would owe Bobo if they fired him decreases significantly every year.

Welcome new offensive assistant coach Mike Bobo for whatever position may come open. This may be inevitable and he and Kirby are tight.

Aaron Murray & Todd Gurley are the only reason Bobo got a HC gig. They are perfect example of “it’s all about the jimmys and joes and not the x’s and o’s“

Dude was and is a helluva OC. It’s not his fault we couldn’t play D when he was here. Our problems while he was OC were not on him.

I feel the same but I’d throw Michael Bennett and a few others in there too. You and I are in the minority.

I’ve made myself clear on this discussion. Rational minds can disagree, and I know Bobo had some good years in Athens, but I will never forget/forgive the 2010 season, 0 TD’s against UCF, the blown recruitment of DeShaun Watson, and the subsequent signings of Brice Ramsey and Faton Bauta. #RunTheDamnBall #SpikeTheDamnBall
