Here’s the opener to Sharky’s Machine.
And here’s what Wikipedia has to say about “Street Life”:
The opening credits use the 1979 hit song “Street Life“, originally performed by The Crusaders with vocalist Randy Crawford. The recording in the film is a newer version orchestrated by Doc Severinsen, inviting Crawford to reprise her vocal and who composed the original score, as well. This version is a much more powerful and faster-paced version with a full orchestra, and it was the one that Quentin Tarantino included in Jackie Brown (1997). (Crawford is given the only credit on the song title.)
I dig the original, too, for what it’s worth. Here’s a live version.
I have the original Crusaders album. Forgot about this version. But remember the movie for introducing me to Rachel Ward……..

She, and that movie, are pleasant memories. Hate to see Burt go but will watch again and toast the old boy one more time. Has been a while since I thought of either.

You had to do it didn’t you?? 79-83 the golden years in Athens! The spot was the “Hideaway” on Atlanta Hwy. Herschel and Dominique would bring a plethora of beauties (4 or 5 piece) all dssimes i might add. Street Life set the mood for sure. Man… I thought you might’ve been kinfolk now I know. Btw Old Herschel and Charles Junior (bless his heart). Could moonwalk their asses off.

Thanks for that. My favorite Burt Reynolds movie. That opening music and vista of Atlanta is the epitome of 70″s Atlanta. The scene when he is driving to Rachel Wards house in Virginia Highlands in the pouring rain is forever etched in my mind as well.

I was a kid at a motocross event being held at Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium when they filmed the helicopter scene.

Do any of you Atlanta lawyers recognize the location where that car that backed up to Burt was?

I thought all of you kids hated DISCO. I must have been wrong. No one seems to hate it, you all just hate to admit you like it.
