Strength in numbers

That said, it’s nothing short of ridiculous to try to rank Georgia head of LSU tow days after they pulled Georgia’s pants down on national television.  —  Go Dawgs!

If I’m ridiculous, you probably don’t want to look at anybody’s advanced stats this week. — Senator Blutarsky

Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

I don’t care what all these computers say there is no way u rank UGA ahead of LSU after what just happened. 1 of those polls has App St & Fresno St ahead of LSU & Fla. How many people actually believe that? Hope the Fla, Ky & Aub games change my mind but not impressed by Dawgs so far.

Wow, look at where Michigan sits. They may hand OSU they loss they need, and boy, they make ND look good right now.

Never let the numbers trump the desire of a bunch of losers to bitch. Cloak yourself in Larry Munson and complain and complain and complain. When a team gets lucky at home and the Dawgs lose, you’re the internet genius that told us all.

… are you saying that LSU got lucky?

Roger that, and they did an awesome job of exploiting it. They didn’t do one thing better than we did poorly.

I’d say there was a pretty wide disparity in the two coaching staffs.

Pretty wide disparity in what, exactly? Maybe responding to crisis or capitalising on mistakes.

Name one coach on the LSU staff that you would hire over one on Kirbs’ staff. Our terrible defense held a Top Ten team to a FG instead of a TD five times on the road. Keeping the game in striking distance until the 4th Qtr. We’d lose our minds if our Offense did that.

Kirbs’ stubbornly errs on the side of simple execution in crisis, expecting to leverage a talent advantage to make it happen. I think everyone dissatisfied with Saturday’s performance saw poor execution and would have preferred more creativity. Unfortunately, Kirbs’ coaching DNA is stubborn and man it reared its ugly head Saturday.

I really don’t see any way Georgia loses to Florida, but, man, if the football gods craft a path for the Gators, the anguish is going to be off the charts.

Agree, I would be more concerned about a raazon thin win next week against Florida than I was after the “humiliating and devastating” loss to LSU because it would mean UGA really doesn’t have the talent we think, and cannot play inspired football even when it has to. Doesn’t mean FU cannot win, just unlikely. Then it might seem true that the sky has indeed crashed on our heads, and goals will not be achieved. See nothing to suggest that, yet. Dawgs roll.

I kept waiting for those advanced stats to step up and make a play last weekend. I guess they pulled a hammy.

Wow. This is about as close to fame as I’m likely to get.

I’ll repeat the preamble to the quoted comment and say that I respect your viewpoint and your reasoning more than the vast majority of Bulldog bloggers and also a lot of the professional reporters who cover the team for a living. You’re not a homer putting Georgia ahead of LSU just because you’re wearing red and black glasses. And, I also watched Saturday’s game thinking that if things had been managed differently and a play or two had gone differently it could have been a much different contest in the 4th quarter. But then again, I AM a homer. All I’m saying is that statistics don’t tell the whole story. I’m happy that Saturday’s performance seems to be an aberration. I hope that proves to be true. I also know who Georgia compiled its stats against leading up to Baton Rouge. And I know who Georgia’s got scheduled for the next two games. On October 17th, I find it hard to argue that Georgia is a better football team than LSU. YMMV, and the numbers are on your side, and I’ll be thrilled if you end up being right and laughing at me at the end of the year after we win a rematch in the Benz.
