A win for the reserve fund

Not only does Georgia walk away from paying Jim Chaney more than any other offensive coordinator in America, it gets a little ching ching back from the Vols.

That’ll put a smile on McGarity’s face.

Now that I think about it, that contract will probably do the same for Jimmy Sexton.

Insane that Tennessee fans seem uniformly excited about this hire. Here is how UT finished in yards/play in the SEC with Chaney as OC 2009-2012:

    7th, 9th, 10th, 4th

That was in a 12-team SEC. An absolutely god awful tenure, and they are over the moon to pay top dollar to have him back on the sideline.

Time for UT’s lawyer to claim a fan at UGA fat-shamed him from the stands.

I am one of the apparent few that was pretty happy with Cheney but no way in hell is he worth that much. UT/Pruitt’s desperation shows.

I’m in total agreement. I was quite happy with the offense. I thought Chaney was a great hire for Kirby as he was just starting out. Chaney’s experience could allow Kirby to offload some responsibilities to him on offense. Kirby now has three years under his belt and can stand to take a risk if he wants.

That’s nuts. But as with Malzahn at Auburn, if Georgia’s rivals want to overpay moderately above average coaches, it’s fine by me.

I had no issues with Chaney at UGA for the most part, but this seems a little cra cra by UT…5.3 million total for 3 years…shit..

For that kind of money, I don’t blame him for leaving. If he’s planning to retire soon anyway, he can just sandbag it for three years.

Keep digging hillbillies, you ain’t found the bottom of that hole yet!

Boy…. wouldn’t it be something if UGA pays Enos more than what Chaney will be making.

Interesting potential story going around about how Chaney and Coley weren’t working well together.

Is there an OC and DC in our future.
Burning a clock with no timeouts.
Radar shows two in bound planes for Athens.
One has Applwhite and ther othe Kingsbury.
Late night Greyhound buses have Derek Dooley and Mike Bobo.
Took UT almost a month and half to hire an OC.
Fear not Tarkenton is in the Butts-Mehre to give McGarity his choice and approval.
Those two will decide and let Smart know.
We all thought this was the new Georgia Way with Smart.
Apparently back to back losses changed McGarity’s mind. He put back on his green shades and opened the door to the vault to park that money for an outdoor hockey rink.
Saban has sent a plane to Athens to ask Smart if he wants to come back.
Three year deal worth $6 million. $2 million a year plus additional million everytime they beat Clemson in CFP / NCG.

While all this chaos goes on in the athletic department, why not get a new AD, too.

    Pittman.
    Whatever it takes.
The man not only has the look of a legendary coach, he can coach. Just watch him on the sidelines. Those kids would kill for him, as well as some others. Figure of speech.
Alums and fans have already put Pittman in the class as Erk Russell.
Yeah put those funds on Pittman.
    Whatever it takes.

Are Gran and Ainsley the coordinators of the future.
Whoever they are changes the SEC.
Why? Whole new look for the Dawgs.
We’ve seen Grantham and Mullen; Pruitt and Chaney; Muschamp and all those other former Dawgs; and etc.
Now the rest of the East and the SEC will have to throw out the film and playbook.
Dawgs get to open a new chapter of “whip ass”.

It’ll put a smile on my face if Kirby signs a guy as OCwho is an improvement over Chaney.

  20. So how did this go down? Was that UT’s first offer? Did we ever counter? I’m just curious.
