Your early betting lines post

Via BetOnLine.ag, here are a few lines of note:

  • Georgia, -11.5 against Notre Dame
  • Georgia, -4 against Florida
  • Georgia, -9 against Auburn
  • Georgia, -13.5 against Texas A&M

Yeah, some of those lines are a little bigger than expected, but I’m still surprised Florida is getting that much traction after losing two straight games against the Dawgs by the widest margins in the series since the 1940s.

Some non-Dawg SEC lines of interest:

  • Florida, -14.5 against Tennessee
  • LSU, -2.5 against Florida
  • LSU, -7.5 against Auburn
  • Alabama, -17 against LSU
  • Alabama, -14 against Auburn

Again, the Florida respect is surprising.

Finally, some national games involving SEC teams spreads:

  • Florida, -7.5 against Miami
  • Auburn, -3 against Oregon
  • LSU, -3 against Texas
  • Clemson, -16 against Texas A&M

Don’t know about that Auburn line and I have a feeling LSU might cover that Texas spread easily.

Oh, and one bonus note:  Michigan is a 4.5 favorite over Ohio State.  I can’t believe the Corch magic is gone.

What do you guys think?

  2. At this point, that line vs. Texas A&M would scare me.

Agreed I was surprised to see that so large. I would have expected Auburn to bigger than A&M.

      • Auburn would have been bigger if we were playing them at home using -3 home field advantage. Vegas would have us -15 if we were playing the Tiggers between the hedges.

TAMU has a really tough schedule, so I expect their lack of depth to catch up with them by the time they get to Athens.

      • Anyone we play during the regular season is going to be at a depth disadvantage regardless of timing. Given it’s going to be the first time we have played since they joined the league, I expect they are going to give us their best shot. I do like the fact we are getting them late in the season.

Jimbo’s teams usually do better first half of the season, start to generate wtf? results on the back half.

If we beat A&M by two touchdowns we will win the mnc next year.

Well, I guess they want to get the money spread out so those lines should work. No way are we favored by that much against ND or A&M.

The disparity between the Texas AM Bowl
Bump and double digit lines against the elite programs is interesting. I would guess Aggies are throwing money at those lines.

And yeah, I don’t get the Florida lines at all.

Florida is getting a lot of credit for Michigan not showing up for the Peach Bowl. Other than that, it’s a head scratcher.
(Maybe the prognosticators just can’t let themselves accept that Georgia would seem to have a cakewalk to the East..”there must be another team that can challenge them..there just must be…yes..Florida..we can Dawgrade them by giving credence to Florida”).
Florida is to Michigan what Texas is to Georgia. Results, even from meaningless bowl games, have meanings when the participants are in the conversation for the next years’ championships.
Congratulations to Texas…Georgia’s lack of effort made them relevant.
Congratulations to Florida..Michigan’s lack of effort (and talent) made them relevant.
Now we see Florida ranked in the top ten.
Michigan would be ranked if they didn’t field a team.
As usual the BIG and ND are over ranked.
    So is Florida.

I just double-checked but we have won by 14 or more in every game against the SEC East the last two years. I suppose if someone could get under that it would be UF? For the record, SC in ’17 and MO in ’18 were 14 point wins. Biggest MOV vs SEC East was of course TN in ’17 at 41 big ones.

We all know the rosters aren’t even set at this point so you have to be careful with making any snap judgments, but if that FU line stays at +4 against UGA, that will be my favorite bet on the Dawgs all year. It may even be worth placing an early bet just to not let it run away before game week. Some other attractive looking bets on that list, but I don’t know the roster situations as well. Gets the blood flowing though doesn’t it? About 20, long, weeks to go.
