Now this here’s an interesting little factoid.
Every team in the SEC East has a quarterback who has started at least 13 games. Returning starters in the East include South Carolina’s Jake Bentley (32 career starts), Georgia’s Jake Fromm (28), Florida’s Feleipe Franks (21) and Kentucky’s Terry Wilson (13). Missouri’s top candidate to replace four-year starter Drew Lock is graduate transfer Kelly Bryant, who started 18 games at Clemson.
Ball State graduate transfer Riley Neal, who made 32 starts at his former school, is competing with Deuce Wallace for the right to take over for four-year starter Kyle Shurmur at Vanderbilt.
No, that doesn’t mean we’ve got a bunch of Heisman candidates at hand — that’s for the folks at Auburn to decide, anyway — but you’d think most of those starters are significantly along their respective learning curves at this point. The question may be how many of them have good enough receiving corps to work with.

Poor ol’ Terry Wilson is going to find that his experience this year is going to be a lot different than last year. Departures on the line coupled with the departure of Benny Snell are going to make quarterbacking at the University of Kroger a tougher proposition in 2019.

Think that Jake Bentley and Felipe Franks’ tenures have more to do with lack of any better option than anything lol. I mean, Bentley is about as good as the cocks could ever hope to get, which isn’t saying much, and Franks…. well….. his own coach even talks shit about him.

Yeah, Bentley sort of plateaued about 2 seasons ago. Not sure why.
Franks plateaued in high school, I guess. I’ve never thought he was anything other than ungainly/awkward looking.

I am not claiming that QBs are not important, but a great QB talent on a crappy to mediocre team isn’t that much to write home about. I think that applies to Franks, for example, who is decent raw talent, but has no real quality cast. Also Bentley, imo. Year of the QB in the SEC? Meh.

I have never understood the love that Bentley gets, don’t care if he starts 100 games for the Cocks. I do think the freshman from California looked pretty decent for a true frosh in their spring game. But he will be surrounded by mediocre players his entire career there. And he may leave declaring a hardship once he has listened to that damn rooster crow 50 times every home game. No one should deny that as a justifiable reason, worse than Rocky Top.

Senator, your header caused me to click… subtract Jake Fromm that group and you got notta’, zero, zip…Jake is surrounded by TEAM, the other qb’s have guys in the same colored uniforms, true there is gonna be some moments for the highlight reels, but not enough to scare UGA on saturdays this fall…there are two sides to every story and then there are the facts that i bring forth before you, this season 2019…
