Those of you convinced beyond belief that Georgia is inherently disadvantaged every year playing Florida in Jacksonville should know that Dan Mullen’s got your back.
Florida coach Dan Mullen has been outspoken thus far during the offseason, and that trend continued Wednesday night. Mullen told a booster club in Daytona Beach, Fla. that any game the Gators play in the state of Florida is a home game. Presumably that includes the yearly game vs. Georgia in Jacksonville. I’ll explain on today’s show why Mullen’s words could sour some UGA fans on maintaining the rivalry’s tradition of playing at a neutral site.
Sure thing, man. If Dan Mullen says something, it’s bloody gospel.
Seriously, what does it say that the AJ-C’s found another topic to troll Georgia fans with that comes straight from the mouth of a guy who’s been talking whatever shit he can come up with to distract from his work on the field against the Dawgs?
Now that Kirby is calling it Jacksonville, Georgia, Mullen has to respond some way. He saw the empty seats last year and has to know the talent gap is widening.

Correct. Strange that he would point out that even with it being a home game, we came in and took their lunch money with ease the last 2 years, and likely for a few more in a row.

Waiting for Mullen to brag on his (and Grantham’s) three first-rounders last night. No coincidence they all had their best seasons under a different coaching staff and a simpler scheme.
Also good to see the Giants trade up for Deandre Baker, now joining Lorenzo Carter and Alec Ogletree on defense. Congrats to Deandre.

Rumor is he got frustrated with the coaching staff change when Richt left.
Grantham recruited him and Pruitt signed him. He joined Grantham at his home state school but (ironically) Grantham left and he thrived.

I think maybe he’s the Donald Trump of college coaching. Just say whatever is necessary to piss off as many people as possible. It keeps your base happy, the money flows in and everybody else is too distracted to notice you’re not really doing too much.

Sounds more like the obama of college football to me. Run your mouth constantly about how much you’re doing when, in reality you are doing nothing or making things worse, take shots at your opponents even when they are beating your ass and have a history of doing nothing of consequence and relying on the media to build up the narrative of how great you are.

Well, I guess it’s nice to know that in an era of extreme political divide there’s one thing we can all agree on – Dan Mullen fucking sucks, and he’s giving us plenty of bulletin board material come November (not that we need it).
Also, playpen.

JCDawg83 you might not have guessed I voted for Trump. I’m not saying it’s a bad strategy. In fact, it working very well for him so far. The Democrats don’t seem to have figured it out yet. Whatever the Donald is talking about at the moment continues to dominate the news cycle on both liberal and conservative outlets. As long as he controls the conversation it doesn’t really matter what everyone has to say about it. He gets his punches in when he can but the public actually expects government to accomplish very little. He has tilted the Supreme Court to the right with his appointments. Almost nothing else has resulted from actual legislation so any changes can easily be undone by subsequent administrations. Both parties need to understand that our system is not intended to be run by executive order. Congress needs to do it’s job and pass legislation.

Oh yeah, Trump is living in the media and dems heads and he knows he controls the conversation. I agree Congress needs to go back to doing its job but I don’t see that happening any time soon. Everyone in DC is happy with the partisan divide and the deep state bureaucrats running things so the politicians can keep lining their pockets and not be held accountable for anything.

Spurrier was the first to point out to Gator fans, when he was hired, that they should have an advantage playing in Jax. Spurrier said, “It’s in the state of FL in a stadium called the Gator Bowl”. It’s hard to remember for some Dawgs the Gators wanted out of Jax before some Dawgs wanted out of Jax. Nothing original about Mullen.

Spurrier told me the exact same thing, said when he got the job it was the first question at every meeting with FU boosters. They told him he had to move that game because they couldn’t beat UGA in Jacksonville. (He didn’t mention if those complaining boosters were all “Mayors” or not. But he did mention UGA had a shorter bus ride to the stadium than his team had…jk) 🙂

It took a good 30 years for Georgia Tech to descend to their current level of desperation in terms of trash talk and fake juice. It only took Florida two losses in Jax to reach the same level. That’s gotta be a record.

FU has a longer history of being behind the curve relative to UGA, and also national interest.

So he’s saying the WLOCP is a home game for UF and they should have an advantage because it’s in Florida? Is that in an effort to comfort the bullgators by the fact they have the home field advantage and still get their ass whipped at home every year by their biggest SEC rival? Bold strategy, Cotton. Let’s see how it works out for them.
Florida can have Jacksonville, but we own the Gators.

All I know is that last year the DAWGS side was packed to the gills with red and black 10 minutes before gametime. There were tons of empty seats on the Florida side as late as midway through the second quarter. So if having a sparse and late arriving crowd is a gator home game than Mullen is correct.

They also disappear at half time and watch the whole game sitting down. I lived in Los Angeles in the nineties and they remind me of the crowd at Dodger Stadium back then- still arrogant and condescending, out of old habit, but no one can quite remember why.

How was living in L.A. back then? IMO the city has improved greatly from those days, in which the crime and smog were far worse back then. FWIW I’m a Dodgers fan myself, even though I grew up in Atlanta.

Los Angeles was a hell of a lot of fun, outside of the traffic and occasional rioting, earthquakes, and O.J. Simpson (here I always gotta mention that I was called in the jury pool for both Simpson- downtown- and Menendez- SF valley). The smog was way down by then and I actually had fewer problems breathing there than here (pollen). I miss it a lot…and I grieve for El Pollo Loco daily.

There were WAAAY more empty seats on the Florida side ’bout middle of the 4th quarter.

So Mullen had three defenders taken in the first round last night.
He won something with those guys right?
Two other teams had 3 guys taken in the first and they both have big trophies.

Weird that they don’t want to do home and homes with the Group of Five schools in the state, seeing as they’d get two home games out of the deal.

Guy is a complete clown and looks totally out of his depth (which was a criticism many had about the hire). A few more beatdowns in Jacksonville and a couple of trips over his dick with the SCar’s and Kentucky’s of the world and he will be headed for the beach…

Said it the other day, Mullen seems to have a lot of time on his hands to blather on about nothing. I think the reality is Mullen took the job for the payday. Seems to me he’s going through the motions to make it look like he’s making an effort. He ain’t a bad OC/game coach, but a half-ass effort with recruiting and preparation is gonna get you steamrolled by the Kirby’s and Saban’s of the sec.
