No shame

There really is no excuse for this kind of non-conference scheduling.

More than half the SEC West is on that list.  I’m sure their fans are thrilled.

I guess that when your team isn’t Auburn, LSU, or Alabama, you need some tasty cupcakes to get to that magic 6-win mark to make it to Memphis for the Liberty Bowl.

And FCS schools are grateful—especially for Arkansas

I can see why Indiana is on the list, though. They couldn’t even beat Tennessee.

  4. It’s mostly bad-to-mediocre teams that need wins for bowl eligibility… except for Wisconsin. That’s truly shameful.

I bet the only thing keeping Florida off that list is their annual game with FSU. Their non-conference scheduling is a joke.

  6. Imo, this also relates to the rich getting richer theme. Recruits see it, tv networks see it and fans see it and all of those things affect the wealth of your program.

Florida showed that you could play 7-8 home games, bottom rung OOC schedule and barely leave your state and still compete for titles. I don’t think that works now. The UGA/ND, UGA/CU and LSU/FSU types, on top of a power 5 schedule, are where it’s at. Quite the amateur sport it’s become.
