Two guys talking…

… and then, one of them sez,

“Hey, can I just quiz you real quick?” Elliot said. ‘Is there any position on Georgia’s defense that you’re not sold on? I’m just looking up and down this roster. Like Channing Tindall is fighting for playing time. I love that guy coming out of high school – he was freaky. Nakobe DeanNolan Smith, and Adam Anderson. All these dudes are just they’re freaky man. And the secondary is stupid good as well. They might not give up 30 points all year.’

And the other one’s like, all, “I know, right?”

‘No, I (agree) 100% and I think that’s what’s encouraging is not only do they have really good players, they got really good depth. They’re bringing in guys that can play as true freshmen and are going to push the guys in front of them. They’ve got waves of front seven players they can run at you – outside linebackers, inside linebackers. They’ve got waves of back end players that they could run at you.

‘I think the fact that they can foster this competition in their roster and their secondary. Whoever is going to play that star position is sort of unknown, because there’s just a bunch of guys that can and they got to find out who the best one is. I think all those things are the dynamics and the tenants of a roster that can really make some noise. So I’m very much a believer in Georgia for next year.”

Man, I really want to see this team play.

  1. This defense could prove the old adage from Erk. I imagine he would love to coach and motivate this talent.

If they can create havoc and create field position, this offense will have some opportunities to get its legs underneath them.

One thing probably everyone is forgetting is that Monken has probably never coached anywhere with the quality of the defense he’s going to have.

    • Good point. Monken can be aggressive or conservative as he sees fit. This D will make his game planning and in-game decisions much easier.

  2. Does game theory dictate that the offense should be high-risk high-reward because the defense is so good that there’s not a downside for it being on the field a lot?

    I think so.

    • We should be able to “open it up more” but being able to grind is still very important in my book. Last year, We could hit big plays but we couldn’t move the chains 3 or 4 times successfully and consistently. Really left the defense strung out and thrown under the bus.

We also probably dont have the best kicker in football anymore. 40 traders is the new 50.

Did either of these two guys read the Athlon posts ? Seems these writers don’t have anything to talk about during these epic times so they just went to the outhouse figuring it was warm enough to just stir some shit up. Hint ! For you yougin’s out there, that was not the most pleasant of tasks. Warm weather dries it out and if’n you don’t clean it out you get stuff like ESPN’s Top Ten of RBU piled up on Athlon’s toilet paper views of Hogtown.

You greedy jerk. You are just like the Athletic Directors and Conference Commissioners. You want those kids to risk getting a deadly virus just so you can get more page views / ad revenue from your blog. It’s always about the money. You should be ashamed of yourself!

The Senator makes those same basic types of accusations every time a Coach, Athletic Director, or Conference Commissioner says they are hopeful that the season will be played.

        • I don’t know which part of your point is funnier — that I’m making obscene amounts of money at GTP, or that coaches, ADs and commissioners are just like some slob running a fan blog.

          Thanks for the chuckle.

It is kind of like how you portray ADs and Commissioners as simultaneous incompetent buffoons that can’t get out of their own way and greedy Con-men that successfully fleece tens of billions from the economy. Neither one needs to be true for someone to go off on a self-righteous rant where they pretend they can read other people’s minds and know their secret bad intentions / incompetence.

Don’t understand why you read the blog if you have the obvious issues with me that you do, but whatever…

I don’t have any issues with you personally. I just have a bad habit of pointing out cognitive dissonance in educated people. Have you ever noticed how I never gave Will Trane shit? Think of this as constructive criticism. I do try to avoid the articles about player compensation, NCAA lawsuits, and the “muh incompetent greedy admins”, but that is still a surprisingly large portion of the articles with titles that don’t indicate it. Otherwise, I really enjoy the curated list of articles, especially the buffet posts. I have also encouraged you for years to start a music blog.

    • Perfect example of nuance is dead. You can “hope to see the team play” but “not if it means health and safety are at risk” at the same time.

This is what tribalism has done. 0 or 1. Black or white. r or d. Death of critical thought and layers of opinion.
