If they’re making us give up Georgia Tech, I want this fucking game in Athens, these SEC motherfuckers.

    • And Florida’s giving up FSU. By the same logic, the game should go to Gainesville.

That’s why it’s staying in Jax.

No, we’re the home team this year.

See below. We only have four games in Athens. They get five games in Jortsville.

I understand your point, but if there are no fans in the stands not much of a home-field advantage. And I wouldn’t want those MF’ers pointing to that as the reason we beat them again.

            Who cares what they want?

Don’t we want a return game in Athens for giving up a home game to Auburn in 2013?

            Have we gotten it yet?

Why is it always us who bends over to do what’s “best” for the SEC?

Isn’t it in the SEC’s best interests to ensure all teams have the same number of home and away games for this season only?

How can you know what home games we get? Last I looked they haven’t named the other two we play from the west. And unless there will be fans home games won’t matter that much anyway.

Seriously though, do y’all realize with Tech on the schedule, this year in a 10-game SEC-only schedule, we only have 4 home games and Florida gets 5 home games?

Fucking McGarity once again doing nothing to help Georgia while bending over and taking it up the ass from the SEC home office.

Isn’t that disparity the same every year the home team plays in jax?

It’s almost always mitigated in some respects by the non-conference schedule.

This year however, in a 10-game only schedule, only have four games vs. 6 away games (which the Cocktail Party is) is a much larger disparity.

The game should be played in Athens this year.

I bet McGarity didn’t even do shit to try to save the Tech game; that he once again bent over for the SEC.

Not having any non-conference games really highlights the effect playing in Jackonsville has on our schedule. 4 home games in a 10 game season is pathetic.

Every 8 game sec slate has been titled one way or another by who was the “home” team but playing in Jax. I just don’t see the big deal in it.

I just hope we can play them all. As far as getting to Atlanta, this format is great for us. Good chance we win the east by 2 games.

The pushing back the start to 9/26 makes me think they’re still considering pulling the plug.

And continued silence about the PSL and ticket money they collected 6 months ago. The Georgia Way.

Even Alabama’s AD has stated that complete refunds will be available…

    https://rolltide.com/news/2020/7/29/general-amessage-to-supporters-of-alabama-athletics.aspx

“Those affected will also have the option to elect a complete or partial refund of TIDE PRIDE contributions and ticket purchases.”

Might this lead to a permanently expanded SEC schedule? If fans aren’t allowed, I could see the Florida game ending up in Athens. Why go there without fans? Boy we love this argument in good times and bad.

Why would anyone want the Florida game in Athens this year, when there are likely to be very few, if any fans in attendance? Play the 2020 game in an empty Sanford Stadium, and Florida insists and likely gets the 2021 game in a full Swamp. I realize that we all hate McGarity but I can’t fault him for this move.

Why would the 2021 game HAVE to be played in Jortsville.

Didn’t Sankey and the rest day this year was a one-time only year filled with compromise and sacrifice and yada yada yada?

      Doesn’t the SEC owe us?

Play this year in Athens to ensure both Floriduh and we have the same number of home and away games. Next year the game is back in Jacksonville.

      Seems fair to me.

Bingo Mary. Don’t think there is much option. Florida would insist next year in Gainesville, and trying to be objective about it, they would win that battle. I know being objective is hardly part of CFB vocabulary. As far as scheduling goes, I heard several ADs said that simply moving up the next two in the rotation is unlikely to happen. They will look at some sort of strength of schedule balance.

With a all due respect to my fellow followers if the Senator, I think we should be happy to play and games, anywhere this year.

If the City of Jacksonville pays us over a million dollars to pay in Jacksonville in front of zero fans both teams make more than each will from playing at home in front of zero players.

So, any chance governors or legislators try to overrule the SEC and make teams play these in-State rivalries? I know they have a lot more important things they need to be focused on, but this is football in the South.

    For What it’s Worth:
Me thinks if we play, if the game is in Jacksonville, Home of the scaley Jorts Jacksonville’s $100,000,000.00 effort for payouts to each team might be downsized with the lack of fans in the stands. It’s like Hogtown is the premier vacation spot In Florduha.
Jekell, Sea Island and Amelia might bring in a few dollars through golf and socially distanced cold ones.who out there among you want reservations at the Clown Motel?

The game is UGA’s home game this year it should be played in Athens. I hope the Gators do insist on the game in G’ville in ’21. That would probably end the series in Jax. That’s what should happen. Let the Gators end it. Brilliant Gators, that’s showing them who’s boss.

“Pays better” is a relative term in this instance.

How much money do Athens businesses lose every other year from not having this game? Or a better question would be, putting a more positive spin on it, how much more money do Athens businesses stand to gain from going to home and home? And Jortsville, too, for that matter?

I know I tend to be one of the more sensitive people here in regards to how (mostly terrible) decisions by our AD and the SEC affects Athens, but it’s because I sincerely believe the UGA AA owes Athens more than they generally give. I would rather see the money spent in Jacksonville, Jekyll Island, and St. Simons Island, and the other Florida island I can’t remember the name of right now go to Athens instead. I know there are others who disagree, but hey, we just ended the tradition of consecutively playing a series that we’ve played for 94 straight years, so who care about tradition anymore?

        • You have different priorities from B-M, which is fine, but the idea that there’s something relative about the numbers is the exact opposite of reality.

If you really feel that strongly about it, though, I would suggest you raise hell with Smart and McGarity for scheduling all those high profile home-and-home games that are going to rob Athens businesses of the game day revenue they would have gotten from cupcake home games over the next 15 years.
