If Dawgs can play two halves like the second tonight, they can beat anybody. I made no secret of my disgust of the play calling (on first down, mainly). Before the game I had made known my belief that Kirbs would play it that way, but still let it get under my skin..whatever..maybe the plan was to wear the UT D down and it worked.
It’s a fine win! Kudos to the whole team..except Pickens..I’m mad at Pickens (but I’ll love and forgive him when he makes that big play against Bama)

  7. Our defense is glorious.

Our offense seems to be improving.

We could potentially end up damn scary. I can feel my hopes building to a dangerous level. Next week will either crush those hopes or send them into the stratosphere.

I want to add that the kickers are pretty damn great. Camarda has really become a consistent weapon. That 64-yard punt out of bounds to flip the field in the 3rd quarter was pretty striking. And Podlesny…the 51-yarder might have been good from another 6-8 yards out.

Worst part of today is that the reality of Third and Grantham may finally be evident to Mullen and Florida fans

Is Mullen still “a great coach” or did that terminally ill meme bite the dust today?

The refs just gave the game to Auburn. Literally, they shouldn’t have had the field goal chance.

They totally fucked Arkansas on that play. Auburn is bad. Not as bad as they were in 2012 but they are a bad team. I think they MIGHT go 5-5 this year, accounting for sorry ass LSU.
Our defense is fantastic. Kirby needs to look at Chaney’s play calling and decide to do a 180° everytime. That was an exciting game that but for our execution didn’t need to be. I think Bama beats us next week but we get better each week. If we don’t score 50+ on Florida it’s because we don’t want to or malfeasance.

How do officials review the play – consult with each other – and totally screw up the call?

The effort Zeus has put into coming back from 2 knee injuries is greatly admired and appreciated, but 22 needs to get the bulk of the carries going forward.

  13. Hehe!

Kirby always downplays halftime adjustments but this game was yet another example of why he’s in the upper echelon, imo.

The offense obviously needs to get better but I see great potential and I’m really liking how Monken is using everyone. Our special teams and defense look ready NOW. Hopefully Kirby and the staff can find a way to get them to play as well as they can, for FOUR quarters, and make a game of it next week. Regardless, I feel pretty certain that Bama will represent the west in the SECC. A loss next week wouldn’t be the end of our hopes and I expect the 2020 Dawgs to get better as the year goes on.

I agree that the offense needs to continue to improve but I’ll take 37 points against a pretty good defense. I think the Vols whip Florida straight up.

      • Agreed. I expect Tennessee to be our biggest threat moving forward, especially if Pruitt continues to recruit well.

I agree. I think that UT will get pressure on UF and UF’s defense is comically bad. As I watched today I couldn’t help but notice how woefully prepared their secondary was, not just in the first quarter but for all 4 quarters. Grantham is consistent if nothing else.

I know this is pure BS, but I want to think Monken got on the headset with Kirby and said, “Coach, to win championships you can’t sit on 2 pt leads!” It really seems we tried that approach then said, “F it, let’s keep playing ball!”

Dawgs appear to be the team to beat in the SEC. I certainly wouldn’t have said that at halftime of the UT game or even thought it at the final. But as I watch Ole Miss gash Bama’s D I’m rapidly becoming a believer.

I’m not sure why some Tennessee fans are encouraged by having the lead at halftime. It was pretty much entirely because of Georgia mistakes, and they were dominated statistically just about as badly in each half. I’m just glad that Georgia snuffed out their hopes pretty quickly in the third quarter.

Now cut out the errors and go beat Bama.

    Liked by 4 people

Yup. We gave them two scores. Second half was domination in real life by our D.

I try to be a glass-half-full type. It was worth it going into the half down a few points to give them hopes, dreams and illusions of grand victory just to more thoroughly crush their souls. No you ain’t back bitches. You’re better, yeah you scored some cheap TDs. But the Dawgs are exponentially better and will continue to dominate you and the rest of the East until Cthulhu intervenes for the occasional upset. Enjoy your win streaks against the downtrodden and sisters of the poor along with your crappy bowls while watching the Dawgs in the Playoffs.
And neuter that hound before it breeds.

I had a weird experience. I was very busy at work today. I could only watch the game in 5 minute bites the first half. Every time I turned it on we were moving the ball well and TN was looking like total shit. Then I turned the game on midway through the 3rd quarter and it was 23-21 UGA. I thought we would be ahead 3 or 4 touchdowns. The game ended up like I expected, but I guess Kirby has some things to work on.

I was impressed by Tennessee’s interior defense; it was far better than Auburn’s and looks better than Florida’s by leaps and bounds. Zeus ran hard all night, but seemed to be continually plunging up the middle without a discernible hole to hit. Milton was a nice change of pace.
While I’m at it, gotta give Lane Kiffin props for his offense. They may not actually beat Alabama tonight, but Ole Miss is giving fits to Saban’s ballyhooed defense.

I was thinking after the game, we gave Bama a whole lot of ammo to hurt us, but then watching that game, they gave us the same in return. Especially for our O. So many plays that gashed Ole Miss, I was thinking one of our guys would plug that gap. Gonna be a tall order, but certainly not impossible.

  25. Just got home from the game. We gave them 14 points (get it together, Trey and don’t go for it, Kirby). The defense just suffocated the 10rc offense. When this offense gets rolling, they can be fun to watch. Scott Cochran is earning his money with the kicking game. Camarda’s punt to flip the field was enormous. Pod’s kickoff from the 20 was another huge play.

How was the food and service at Saucehouse? We usually catch an away game there but have avoided it during the pandemic. Took a few pounds of Saucehouse brisket on fishing vacation and my gator trash friends really liked it.

Saucehouse is some good eatin’. Expensive but you get what you pay for with the generous helpings. Good sides with the potato salad, slaw, baked beans, greens, Mac and cheese and bread pudding. Even if you don’t think you’ll eat it, get the bread pudding and save for later. You won’t regret it, it’s smack yo momma good.

    I don’t know what’s better:

That we destroyed the hillbilly Vawls after thoroughly beating ourself in the first?

That Jeremy Pruitt looked like an uncircumcised penis?

Or that our defense specifically absused that slow-footed pussy Baby Mays, who Tennessee also decided wasn’t a good tackle and moved him inside to guard (one of the reasons it’s thought he left Georgia in the first place is because he played guard all last year and Luke wanted to keep him there, thus ruining his NFL Draft money)?

    I think I’ll rank them:

    1) Abusing the slow-footed pussy Baby Mays

    2) Destroying the hillbilly Vawls after spotting them 14 free points

    3) Uncut Penis Pruitt

Bama’s defense (and Mississippi’s) look really bad. How much this is due to great offenses is debatable…but it’s a heck of a shoot-out still in the fourth period. Don’t know what this means for next week. Bama’s QB and receivers are excellent. Their whole offense is excellent.
Old Miss’ offense makes things happen so quickly that Alabama can’t adjust. Every play is at reckless warp-speed.
