Nothing to see here, Junior. Move on.

Jeez, this blown call in the Auburn-Ole Miss game story just gets more cringeworthy.

Kiffin also added: “I asked the side judge, ‘Why aren’t they replaying it? Do I need to challenge it?’ He said, ‘They’ve already looked at it. There’s nothing there.’ I’m not allowed to say anything about the conversation, but I really wish that our fans and players could hear what I was told.”

If anyone in the SEC office had a sense of shame, or at least responsibility, some heads would roll.  I suspect we know how that will play out.

And to think, if a couple calls had gone the other way, Gus’ head would be rolled.. the rabbit’s foot should be their 3rd mascot

Kiffin as a sympathetic character. Any other year, that might seem strange.

You know we are living in strange times when the majority of public opinion supports Kiffin. On the other hand, Kiffin vs Malzan is a lose-lose situation. You feel kind of dirty supporting either of them.

LOL, imagine a side judge saying that to Nick! If you thought the ass-chewings he’s given his OCs were bad….

I suspect Junior is going to stay on this issue as long as he is in Oxford. His two reasons for existence are scheming mismatches against safeties and making guys like Sankey miserable.

  6. Junior should have challenged it. Someone from the coaches box should have been telling him to challenge the call. Never trust the on-field official when your gut tells you to challenge.

Agree. And I’ll add, “Never trust the on-field official or the replay bozos when you’re playing a team from the state of Alabama”. We all saw what the review did for Arkansas.

I agree, but together with his statement, I get the impression that it was made clear replay had already looked at the play and throwing the flag would get him nothing…maybe even a lost timeout. If that’s all true, he should be livid. And for $25,000, I’d go ahead and say more.

Has it been the same crew or different crews gifting Auburn with the calls?

  8. Looks like Gus has his precious back. I’m glad Auburn is already behind us. The rabbitt’s foot seems to get more powerful as the season goes on.

Somebody from Auburn must have infiltrated the review room in Burn.

The refs can’t be perfect, they are human and the SEC office needs to take ownership of the mistakes. Just come out to the public about the mistake and what led to the error and if they plan to do anything about. By keeping everyone’s mouth shut makes it worse.

Of course it does, and it just feeds all the complaints. Be transparent about the mistakes made and how they are being addressed (assuming they are meaningful steps) and most people will move on. But acting like everything is fine when anyone with one functioning eye and half a brain can see the errors is just stupid.
