  2. Is it too late to ask for his forgiveness and invite him back.

At least he wasn’t arrogant and condescending.

      • What’s the difference.
        Literally. Tell me the difference.

And before you tell me CKS got us to a NC game, please remember Richt would have been in a CFP if one existed in his second year as HC, just like ol’ Kirbs.

        • Sorry, maybe I’m just tired of Manball telling us what his players need to do to “help us win.”

He ought to ONLY talk about what HE needs to do after losses. I’m so tired of talk about what “we need to do better.”

Come on man. Everyone knows the players can improve. We want to know what YOU’RE going to change. That’s why you’re at the podium answering questions, joker.

Kirby should promise to throw accurate passes to open receivers.

            • I didn’t say he had to play QB. I said he should stop TALKING about what his players need to do better.

I listened to the entire press conference. Everything he said made sense. I didn’t sense any blaming at all.

I also liked what I saw when they decided to pull Stetson. Not sure what Kirby said to Stetson, but it looked like Bennett appreciated it and understood. I take that as a sign of at least decent qb management.

                • I’m just tired of hearing the man talk. Maybe it’s just a personality clash. But to me whenever he talks this is what I hear:

“Y’all, I’ve GOT THIS FIGURED OUT. You people just don’t see it. The players just aren’t executing. That’s the only thing holding us back.”

And I’m thinking, “Just shut up, man. We know the players dropped passes, missed assignments and tackles and didn’t show poise and mental toughness. Whose job is it to ‘coach them up’? Isn’t that on you? Whose fault was it that your team folded like a wet paper bag against the two best teams it played this season?”

Be a man, step up and say “the buck stops here.”

Is that how Kirby stayed on at Bama so long, even as his defenses were steadily declining? What’d he just tell Saban, “Man, I’m begging for leadership out there!”

Y’all can tell me he’s a great coach all you want. All I know is the team I believed in most under his watch was 2017, and that team was 90%+ recruited and 50%+ coached by someone else.

          • Maybe I don’t either. But, I’m FAR from convinced that we’ll look back and regard CKS more favorably than CMR after CKS’s tenure is over.

@ Jared S. >>> Regarding your “The Buck Stops Here” comment above (it won’t let me comment immediately underneath it for some reason), I posted something very similar on an earlier thread today. I just don’t understand why Kirby can’t man up and accept responsibility for what’s going on in his football program. He’s fully in charge! Yes, there are outside factors that come into play but he should stop looking for blame elsewhere. True leaders realize their strengths & weaknesses, and typically don’t make the same mistakes twice. I love Kirby and want all the best for him but the dude needs to man up.

            • Kirby modernized the entire football infrastructure at GA. Whoever follows Kirby walks into an undeniably better job than he did.

Kirby might have some game management faults, and he epically shit the bed picking the good ole boy over a soon to be Heisman winner.

But the big, structural problems that Richt didn’t have the skill or the energy to demand get fixed have been addressed by Smart. That is not debatable.

            Richt/Kirby comparison thru 60 (10/18/20):

            Richt’s 49-11

            Smart’s 47-13)

            But who’s keeping count…

Richt did ok until he didnt. Putting that stat up doesnt mean we need this idiotic non starter of bringing RIcht back.

God damn you richtophiles are the worst. Richt was done, he sucked at Jax, his coaches sucked, his roster sucked, and the wheels were off the bus. He didnt recruit hard and everyone was phoning it in. It was time for a change.

I said this on twitter at halftime Saturday, but the bed shitting this year was easily as bad as Richt in Jax in 08, 09, 14 and 15….

Now do Richt’s last 5….that’s a better comparison to me. Richt’s last 5 vs Smart’s first 5…..Bama was/is fully in control for both periods. Makes a damn big difference.

How can you?? Probably not fair either way to be honest. But if you have to compare, need to compare actual games for both….apples to apples.

With that said, not advocating a change. It was probably the right time to make a change in the program with Kirby….but so far, it doesn’t seem to be an upgrade.

He can over overcome this, but no excuse for not having a couple quality backups for Fromm. We should never have to scramble to get a couple of QB (transfers).

    • Ok I’ll bite. I don’t want to go back to above average recruiting (with a few studs here and there) that gives us a SHOT every three years or so with some luck.

I sure would take his consulting at this time to find us a qualified QB for sure..or even Bobo’s QB coaching. Some of this QB stuff was bad luck and out of Kirby’s control, but it still falls on him.

If we had made the move earlier we might have gotten him.

CMR had Hockman, Bama had Fromm and 16 was with Clemson by the time we pulled the trigger.

(Not criticizing the timing, just pointing out that Kirby may have been able to get 16 had he been here when Trevor’s recruiting started.)

He’s the best qb prospect out of hs that I’ve seen. He checks every box. He has the right size. Hyper competitive. Very accurate. Very confident. Much faster than you would think as well. He was like 5th year Burrow at 18. Maybe better.

As far as him staying, I would hope that Leinert would be a cautionary tale for any sure top pick.

Elway and Eli got what they wanted. Don’t know why Lawrence can’t do the same. The Jets can trade the pick if 16 says he ain’t signing. Someone will pay the jets what they want.

Watching Arkansas put up 24 unanswered against that illiterate Alabamian redneck who is so stupid he got into his 30’s without knowing what asparagus is was literally the highlight of my Saturday.

As long as the Pitt-Boss is in Fayetteville, they’re my second-favorite CFB team. I love that man!

Plus, I love that shade of red. It’s not Crimson (blech). It’s like… candy apple red. It’s a great color and they FINALLY went back to their classic uniforms and got rid of all the piping and striping that looked stupid.

The best part of it all is Phat Phil giving him a contract extension at the beginning (what was he thinking?) instead of the end of the season. The advantage of them being on Ole Rocky Top is that you sure can hear them hollering from a long way off… 🙂

After reading most of the post-game comments I can see why there are so many divorces in this cuntry. Unreal expectations, inability to understand circumstances cause failure to even the most qualified and simple immaturity. Sometimes you have to suck it up and drive on.
