Go big, or go home.

I see Sark has quickly embraced one of college football’s greatest traditions, living vicariously through another program.

That ought to carry him through a season or two in Austin.  Maybe.

Unless he discovers some of that Texas moonshine.

Dana Bible and Darrell Royal are rolling in their graves. Time was Texas had a supercilious sniff at Bama.

This made me look up Royal’s record. He went 17-13 in his 2 stops before Texas. At Texas he won about 63% of his games with only 1 bowl win in his first 6 years before he gets his 1st national championship. He then goes on a 4 year championship drought before reeling off 7 conference championships in 9 years along with 2 more national championships.

I don’t see how he even gets hired at a major program these days, much less survive long enough to go on the great run for which he is remembered.

You can do that with just about any legendary coach – Bowden, Osborne, Beamer, etc. Took all of them a while to get their system in place and catch on. But the money and ADHD is such that every coach needs to win now or else.

Their history is a lot closer to ours than to Bama and even that is not the best comparison. They are basically in a 10 year Ray Goff period without the 1992 season or the NFL draft picks. It is a wild situation. It Means Oklahoma gets to go to the playoffs every year unless they lose 2 games, I wish we had it that easy.

Saw a tweet that said firing Herman for Sarkisian was like driving past a Bennigan’s to pull into a Chili’s.

Texas’ oil, tech & steak heirs justifying an HC hire is a site to see. A guy that bat .500 as an HC in the Pac12. Good luck to the program that has been 3rd or 4th fiddle in their own state to Tex A&M, Baylor & even TCU over last decade, let alone their own conference.
