Kirby, you cannot defeat the “no more excuses in Athens” narrative; you can only hope to contain it.

Adam Rittenberg’s take on Georgia’s future standing ($$) may be the apex of its kind.  A small taste:

There are no more excuses in Athens. Georgia has the roster, both now and in the immediate future, to return to the CFP. If the Bulldogs’ four-decade national-title drought doesn’t end in the next three years, their fans should be massively disappointed.

What really earns his piece a chef’s kiss is (1) Georgia is only fifth on his list and (2) should rank third, based on its performance on the unit lists for quarterback, offense and defense.  Which is a really sneaky way of admitting that it’s more likely than not Georgia has to go through Alabama twice to win a natty, unlike the three teams ranked between those two programs.  Kirbs, get on that right away, will ‘ya?

  1. Wow … shots fired on the hot seat narrative. Win a natty in the next 3 years or we’re going to put your @$$ on the hot seat.

And that hot seat will only grow once CKS brings the title to Athens Town…if CKS was to win 10 titles in a row, these asswipes would lose their friggin’ minds attempting to come up with negative print and or a B.S. narrative that fit their vision…

why doesn’t that prick Lincoln Riley get this kind of « clemsoning » treatment.

when we win this year, they will just double down on next yr,etc

    fuck ‘em

Lincoln Riley has won how many playoff games?

The reason we don’t read more about his failures is the market share of people who GAS about them is extremely small. Not a knock on them or their program or league.

Writing about the SEC there is never ending interest and money to be made. We could again be lIke UT waiting to be relevant again. They suck like a septic tank truck with no end in sight.

Waiting on Kirby’s first NC sucks no argument from me on that on. The worst part of summer off season now is waiting till game one. The years of a Dantzler throw away season and wait till next year are over.

Is there a precedent for a coach being on the hot seat who has strung together as many consecutive top ranked recruiting classes along with Kirby’s win record and post season appearances? Seems like the hot seat talk is usually reserved for coaches with sub .500 records or basically any coach at Tennessee.

The media wants Kirby to fail so badly I’m guessing they’ve already written a year of material on it.

    Pressure makes diamonds.

    It’ll also crush skulls.

Kirby needs to get it done. No excuses. Even losing Daniels. You’ve got 2 highly recruited backups behind him. If noodle-arm Fromm can “lead” them to the title game, Beck and BVG should be able to win one.

There you go again bringing facts to a meme party.

He’s probably already scheduled on the Finebaum show to share his deep insight into Kirby’s failures.

The winner of the SEC East annually has the the most difficult path to a NC. That is a fact the author missed too.

  8. The writers are taking advantage of a) our own vexation, and b) our recruiting prowess and c) the offseason.

This is supposed to be fun. Never forget that. Every college football fan in America views it as fun. For us it’s war. From Montana to Fromm vs. the other kid on down. Can we please have fun again? We’re not storming Normandy, it’s a fucking game.

It’ll be a “game” when we can shut up the hillbillies in their hollers, the lizards in their swamps, and the nyerds in their dormitories.

Anyone know if CKS employs any sports psychologists? Performance coaches? These kids are going to need a level head with all this talk going around.

Zero was the perfect number. Give me the glorious mess of the old pre-Bowl Alliance system over a playoff any day of the week, and get off my lawn while you’re at it.

I’m watching UGA at Bama on the SEC Network right now. 17-10 with 5:42 left in the first half.
That’s with the fourth string QB.
It’s not overconfident to think the Dawgs can run the table this season.

I’m up and the game is on again. Less than 5 minutes left in the third quarter and the Dawgs are up 24-20.
Dafuq, man! This is where the wheels fall off. Being honest and not Rah Rah Ranger Russ, all things being even, the Dawgs are at a disadvantage against Bama. No slam or disparagement on Kirby. He’s doing a great job. He’s real close and I believe that he will soon overtake Saban in coaching ability and eventually wins. But until he gets an even shake from the refs the Dawgs will be hamstrung. The last TD Bama scored in the first half and the last in the third quarter were set up by the strictest interpretation of defensive holding and interference. Even those silly suckup CBS shitheads agree those were no-calls. Drive ending third down stops magically become touchdowns with the flimsiest of reasons. Bama privilege. If someone told you “life is fair” then they were lying.
Those gift TDs led to desperation throws and interceptions which snowballed into another loss to Bama and the GOAT. Rest assured Kirby will get that hysteria under control just as he has excelled in other phases as a Head Coach.
Let me tell y’all something here. All things ain’t gon be even this year. The Dawgs have just as much depth as Bama and better skill position players. That swarming D will improve and the offense is going to be off the chain, baby. Got to take care of those orange taters across the river first and then overcome Bama privilege. Nothing but Dawg food in between.
Now if you’ll excuse me I’m gonna go put some water in that teacher troll’s mama’s dish.

When those asswipe knowitalls begin to talk about notrefreakingdame not winning a natty with the same broad brush strokes they give my beloved DAWGS,
    then and only then,
    will I give a schat!
