In the poll's history, #UGA has been ranked in the top 5 of the preseason @AP_Top25 seven times, including four years in a row:
2004- #3
2008- #1
2013- #5
2018- #3
2019- #3

“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23
How do you beat a dead horse? Well, we can talk about the fact that Georgia fired it’s last coach for another one and still has nothing to show for it.

Its good to know that there was that 1 time we actually improved on it….

Looking for logical consistency from the national CFB writers out there is definitely looking for love in all the wrong places. Hah!
The much better argument they could be making about the last four years is how we start the year in the Top-5, but in two out of those four years we haven’t finished the year in the Top-5, but that’s more of a nuanced argument that doesn’t quite allow for hot takes and clickbate, and thus it doesn’t get as much play than the lazier arguments they go with instead.

I don’t really care where we are ranked preseason.

Let’s talk in December/January…winning games by 40 points and blowing up a few opponents scoreboards is gonna’ be fun to watch…(Big talk, but WTF)…

Yes, one look at that 2013 ranking and the results of the season should show anyone how useless preseason rankings are.

Long as this year doesn’t pan out like 2008, I’m good.

Yeah, finishing outside the top 10 would be a disaster of a season. And what a weird year 2008 was after starting 4-0 and falling in the polls to third. Speaking of 2008, was that the last year that Georgia Tech was relevant?

I would like to see who are the 3 media members who have us as preseason #1.
It’s pretty amazing that between 1981-84, we weren’t in the preseason top 5.

I just checked thinking that it must be because the poll was top 20 at the time but the best Georgia was ranked preseason during those years was 7th in 1982. We were 10th in the preseason poll in 1981. Guess Belue leaving was a big deal in the pollsters evaluation of the team.:)

Who else did we have? Butler?! 😜

I know we all want to see the Dawgs take down Saban and ‘Bama..but even more than that, I want to see the Dawgs take down Clemson and hopefully anOhioSt.
This because of my belief that the Dawgrading is driven by the knowledge that UGA has the resources (facilities, location, recruiting base, fan support, SEC, etc) to become the next great dynasty when they do finally get that snow ball to rollin’. Believe me, they (national sports media outside of the deep south) hate ‘Bama too, but it’s kind of hard to Tidegrade a team that is so accomplished. So Georgia, being next in the peckin’ order, gets pecked on. Dawgrading is in style and will be until the Dawgs pour it on those other conferences’ entries in the CFP.

Beating Bama but losing to tOSU would be like when Omar in “The Wire” gets taken out by the little hopper in the drug store.

Let’s just win one and all this stops. Simple.

Stops? More like morphs into “how come it took you so long, Georgia?”.
