In Columbia, Luke Doty’s out with a sprained ankle and likely to miss the season opener. No worries, though, mon.
The Gamecocks will turn to their 12th man.
That’s certainly something.

Beamer said that GA Zeb Noland is practicing with the team as the Gamecocks get the QB healthy.
Noland played at Iowa State and was Trey Lance's backup at NDSU.
"Most importantly, he's played in a football game more recently than anyone on this team."

“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23
A walk on quarterback? In this era of QB’s are king? That. Is. Not. Looking. Good.

Saw a couple of highlights of him yesterday. Honestly, he looked better than a lot of QB’s I’ve seen line up behind the ball in Columia. LOL!

Does that mean Vandy may have a chance to win a conference game this year?

Beamer: “Quick, get the grounds crew in her stat, we need a new QB! What about any of those kids down at the car wash? Anybody seen them throw a football through the car wash and the ball not get wet? It has to be a thing if the boys at ESPN say it every Saturday.”

The guy who said ‘maybe we should have more than one QB on the roster’ doesn’t seem so crazy after all.

Of all the teams in the SEC, South Carolina is certainly one of them.

Noland is a Georgia boy. Dad is the head coach at Oconee Co and Stephens Co before that. Not sure which school Zeb played. I think it was Oconee. Anyway he started his career at Iowa State, had a couple of those 400 yard Big 12 games and transferred after Purdy emerged. He landed at N Dakota St where, unfortunately for him, Trey Lance was waiting in the wings. He could actually be a good qb, just perhaps not as good as the guys who supplanted him in previous stops.
