So how big is Big John Jenkins? This big:
Marc Weiszer gives us some perspective.
… In this picture, Jenkins is sitting next to running back Johnrone Bunch, who is listed at 6-2 and 194 pounds on the Mount Ida College web site…
And remember, Jenkins is a guy who has running back experience on his resume.
That’s before we get him in the weight room on the Joe T. program.

I’m 6’1″ 180, and Jenkins could kick my ass in a 40-yard dash. And then he could kick my ass at the finish line.

Holy smokes, look at the girth of his waist and legs. Doesn’t he have something like 120 pounds on Boise State’s center? He can run too?
Glory, Glory to ol Georgia.

Wish I could See the thought bubble in Kellen Moore`s head when he sees this guy wrecking his offensive line get at him.

I wouldn’t be so sure of that. Boise is going to move their line and QB around a lot to make up for the size difference on the line. They’ve been overmatched on the lines before and won games, so we need to be ready to counter whatever they might throw at us.

Misdirection is the name of their game. They can take a couple basic sets and give you a dozen different looks that can be very deceptive.
I mean, yes, if the front 7 play solid and disruptive it will slow them down, but I’m not banking on a full stop. Boise just has to contain our DL & backers every now and then, and Moore will burn our thin, inexperienced secondary.
Personally, I’m hoping for lots of sacks & hurries by our guys…but I’m not all that confident we’re just going to shut them down, Jenkins or no.

The key to beating Boise will be ball control. If we can keep our offense on the field most of the game, particularly by running the ball successfully, the Dawgs will prevail.

Jenkins and Crowell in the I formation….mmmmmmmmmmm

It will be hard to tell if Moore is rolling out or just running for his life. They love to roll out and our OLB’s are going to have to keep from getting caught inside. If the CB’s have to come up to run support then Moore will burn us bad.

Our linebackers are pretty darn fast. I think they’ll be able to keep up with Moore on a rollout.

Personally, if we’re third and a coupla feet, esp. against a Boise State, I’d be cool with giving this guy the call to make the FD.

Then you will love this, Slaw:
Back in high school, Jenkins was a fullback in the Wing T offense. If you can believe it, he was a bruising kind of runner who also served as the tight end or wing-back in situations where that player was the one expected to catch a pass.
“I was pretty much a playmaker, I guess,” Jenkins said.
And, oh yeah, he starred on the basketball court.

When Boise State came to Athens, I read that some BSU players’ parents, who saw Dawg Walk, were astonished at the size of the UGA players.

Maybe so, but I was down on the sidelines for some of that game and let me tell you, Boise State’s Ryan Clady is a huge man.

heh…the mention of Clady – and he certainly is/was huge – reminds me of the good times he and Seymour used to have
