Dink NeSmith’s wet dream

Okay, it’s not exactly a doubling of his salary, but if NeSmith’s keen insight into what motivates Mark Richt is on target, we ought to be able to sit back, relax and enjoy Georgia’s effort Saturday night.

It’s in the bag, right?

If you hadn’t already seen it, check out Adam Rittenberg’s piece over on espn about how lucky Georgia has been. Weak schedule meme for the win.

Now they are saying how lucky we wee not to play TAMU. First it was Arkansas, now TAMU. But we beat the team that beat TAMU from the east.

And absolutely correct about Bama “missing” the 3 top ten teams from the east.

Bit this is why I ultimately hate the large conferences as they really aren’t if you don’t play a team except once or twice every 12 years. We play Clemson MORE often than we will some in our own conference.

I actually saw one article that mentioned that Alabama didn’t play the big three of the east. It is mind blowing how much they downgrade GA while praising Bama.

Calm down everyone. ESPN doesnt hate us. Win on Saturday and everything will take care of it’s self. Plenty of praise for UGA on last night’s BCS countdown show.

Exactly. If we take care of business in our next two games, other fanbases will be complaining about all the Georgia hype in the media, etc.

What show did you watch? If I didn’t follow college football, I would have sworn that Notre Dame was playing UF on Jan 7.

I wonder if the administrations at Florida, South Carolina, LSU, and Texas A&M are reconsidering their opposition to the 9 game conference schedule. One more game against the other division would help even out the disparities in strength of schedules within the conference. If you look strictly at divisional play, there would have been a 3 way tie atop both divisions.

Spurrier (whiny bitch) has nobody to blame but his own administration for opposing the 9 game schedule.

Just to follow up on that…

UGA’s Western division opponents were a combined 3-9 within the Western division
      Fla’s were 10-2
      SC’s were 6-6

Bama’s Eastern division oppponents were a combined 3-9 within the East
      LSU’s were 10-2
      A&M’s were 7-5

      We need another conference game.

I have said this before and it is still true. The only way to have a true conference champion is for all the teams to play each other every season. With a 12 game regular season that is possible for a 10 team conference which the SEC used to be. Kick out USCe, Arky, aTm and Mizzou. Then play a round robin schedule. If people aren’t willing to do that then they need to stop whining.

P.S. That wasn’t directed at you Cube but rather was a comment on the general scheduling situation.

Understood. And I agree with your point. But kicking out 4 teams and adding a conference game isn’t realistic. However, keeping all of the current 14 teams and adding a conference game is realistic.

I know the 9th conference game is a bargaining chip at this point. So if schools like Florida, South Carolina, LSU, and Texas A&M are happy using it as a bargaining chip instead of implementing it right away, then they need to also be happy with the results that come from largely disparate cross division schedules. Only playing 2 out of 7 teams from the other division simply allows way too much variation in strength of schedule. Playing 3 out of 7 helps narrow that variation.

So you’re saying the SEC’s never had a true conference champion? 🙂

If the conference’s overall goal is to win championships, I don’t think a nine game schedule helps that. The last thing we needed this year was one more Saturday of chaos.

If the goal is to foster old rivalries and build some new ones, a nine game schedule surely does that.

Spurrier isn’t whiny and he’s certainly not a bitch. He’s just telling the truth. UGA has had weaker schedules the last 2 seasons!

That dollar figure is inaccurate. I’m willing to reward our great coach with a crisp $10 bill for winning the SEC and getting our team to the NC and another $10 for winning the big one!

Oh wait. Coaches aren’t 8 year olds. Nevermind.

Another reason that I’m cheering for UGA is due to Richt and the manner he was treated salary-wise this last year. If all other coaches in the SEC had his same setup, I wouldn’t mind, but to see that piece of shit Chitzik and others making more than Richt burned me up. The Regents’s “open door conversation” boiled my grits pretty good. I want the door to be kept open this year where we can demand a few replacements and I don’t mean coaches. Dr Lawhorne’s implied threats thru our AD didn’t do credit to our University.

It was a red-neck opportunity gone ballistic and almost ratcheted up the “Fire Richt” crap to a fever pitch. Now everyone can see that we would have lost a great coach over a bunch of naysayer’s quotes. The “Old Boys know best” power brokerage is now challenged into the future and the next time their asses will be on the line. If you don’t think so, a lot of UGA voters can call the Gov who appoints them and voters will have the last say. You can put that in your pipe and smoke it because my pipe has something different in it.

“One Hitters”. The mainstay of good driver habits. All my upstanding friends who smoke use them. I never smoke while driving. I never carry it in any vehicle that we have except the truck when the houndogs are having evening choir practice near my home and they ask me to drive while they smoke and sing. The girls enjoy it immensely and it’s kind of a neighborhood kick, playing longhair loudly for them while they echo their voices off the lake waters.
