My Mumme Poll ballot, Week 9

As they say, here goes nothing (*tiebreaker):

  • Alabama
  • Auburn
  • Baylor
  • Clemson
  • FSU*
  • Miami
  • Missouri
  • Ohio State
  • Oregon
  • Stanford

Also considered:  Arizona State, LSU, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M

Yes, my ballot didn’t change from last week’s.  And I continue to struggle with a Miami team that struggled with an inferior opponent for the second straight game before winning.  But the ‘Canes are still 7-0.  We’ll see if they show up against FSU.

It didn’t take thirty minutes to compile this week’s picks.  Yay for that!

Could someone please explain why they chose (any team) over Alabama? I’m just asking for a fresh perspective. While FSU/Oregon has been very impressive, I don’t understand why they would get the tiebreaker over Alabama. All the Tide does is win (recently in dominating fashion). And that’s all they’ve done for the last 3 years. To me Alabama will be #1 until someone proves they can beat them head to head.

With players coming and going I think the old adage “to be the man you gotta beat the man” does not ring true in college football from one season to the next. I still think Alabama is the best time though.

Prior to the past couple of weeks, I thought FSU had looked more impressive (and probably Oregon as well). It is clear, though, that Alabama has worked past its early season question marks (breaking in a new OL being one of he biggest parts of that) and is in full-on destruction mode. The only problem I see for Alabama now is the weak schedule going into the MNC. Texas A&M and LSU might be the only two very good teams they play all year until the MNC game. I still have my doubts about Auburn, and it is fairly obvious at this point that the SECE champ isn’t going to be much of a challenge if Alabama is for real. In a strange twist, Oregon will probably have had more of a grind, schedule-wise, than Alabama. I can’t say the same for FSU, though. Clemson is the only tough game on that schedule as the Gators might not even have enough players to field a team by the time Thanksgiving rolls around.

What match up would you like to see in the MNC game? I want to see Alabama beat the eyes off the buck…or the buck out of the eyes.

Why did Saban leave his starting QB in the game as long as he did. At 21-0, that game was over. Bet the UT managers started loading equipment on the trucks going back to Knoxville. Wanted A&M and Bama put more points on Vandy and UT after the writers love fest with them re victories of UGA and SC.
