Get the picture.

Georgia’s getting a lot of favorable publicity over sending some recruits hand-drawn portraits signed by Coach Richt.  (Although you might want to get your facts straight about Alvin Kamara’s present whereabouts, ESPN dudes.)  My favorite bit from that piece:

One rival SEC assistant coach said he wished he thought of the portraits and immediately sent his recruiting staff to come up with something “better.”

Sculpture comes to mind.

One thing, though.  John Infante’s got a little cold water to toss on the effort.

If that turns out to be a real problem, I hope it’s nothing worse than one of those “it was worth it” secondary violations.

Im sure UGA will get slapped with something. I had that worry when I first saw the story yesterday. God are recruiting rules ridiculous. I do think the penalty will probably be worth it. Lots of buzz.

I wonder who in the Athletic Department is doing the sketches.

Good to see Bobo’s crayon finally being put to good use.

It explains why we run the draw play so much in long yardage.

Seems like this isnt the first time I have seen one of these recruiting sketches, but nice to get a little buzz for it.

I am sure one of those recruits got one with a cream cheese stain on the back and now we are going to get nail with improper letterhead and impermissible access to a condiment.

Don’t these loom a little bit like police sketches?

Yes. Saves time and money when our Athletic Department turns our players in to the local authorities.

  7. They should of made a picture out of the LETTERS of the recruiting letter. That way they could kill two birds with one stone and avoid the inevitable NCAA followup:

How do you hold a job…at ESPN…and you have no clue where Alvin Kamara plays football?

    • See Bayless, Skip. Or James, Craig. Or Corso, Lee. Among countless other long term ESPN employees present or recent past who failed to know kind of important facts like that before speaking on them.

“Matter of fact I brought mine in today to make sure I’m connected to the system, the new system that we have,” Richt said after Friday’s practice. “So when I go home — my wife will like this — I can watch practice film from home. I’d rather carry around a sexy iPad than an old playbook any day.”

Richt said the players have been begging for an iPad- more information to check out before they go to bed.

Well with this being an issue at UGA, then you know the NCAA will try to make and example out of us. They will probably do a school wide investigation of other possible wrong doings. With this being UGA we will tell them every single thing we have ever done bad, of course, we will get 0 mercy for coming forth.

This brought to mind a hilarious skit SNL did many years ago with Kevin Nealon as a (talent-less) street caricature artist.

Couldn’t find it on interwebs, sadly.

“RE: the Georgia pictures, if that is being justified as institutional letterhead, NCAA AMA staff needs to issue an interp ASAP.”

In the meantime, someone else already has an interpretation:

“We also asked a well-known artist (who does sketches) in the Atlanta area for his opinion of the quality of the sketches. ‘I guess they’re OK,’ he said.”
