“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23
Wow, that is tough! Speaking of tough punishment…did you see where Nick Marshall is going to accept his punishment “with open hands”? What a tough kid! He is going to face his punishment and take it like a man, even if he has to miss the first full minute of the Arkansas game…

Those open hands got him in trouble at UGA.

For every Nick Marshall discretion that we’ve heard about, there are probably dozens that he’s gotten away with. His problem is getting occasionally caught…because good behaviour is apparently not an option for him. If he were a third string lineman, Auburn would dismiss him and free up a scholarship for the next blue chipper to get kicked out of another program. The University of Auburn is disgusting.

Didn’t they suspend a kid from the basketball team for the season for having premarital sex a few years ago? They are serious about their honor code there.

Speaking of Auburn…They could have had all of those great teams UF had during UM’s tenure as head gator, if only UM had done the right thing. Don’t miss the last two paragraphs of this piece. It’s old, but it will make you appreciate programs that actually enforce standards of discipline.

After reading that quote by Jenkins, I am thinking Corch might be Mayor’s son. At least Mayor has to have a picture or two of Corch in his house(maybe a poster over the bed). They are definitely of the same mindset, and know “what it takes to win”….not at life of course, but a temporary high from a college game. That is how rational the Mayor is, and he wants all of us to follow along.

I see you sobered up enough to grace us with your daily dose of mindless drivel. Go crawl back in your bottle–but be sure to take your earrings out first in case you pass out. We wouldn’t want the maid to find you wearing them. You had better take off the bra and stockings, too, while you are at it.

AHD: You are here on a matter of honor. I am here to see that you settle it honorably. There will be no back-stabbing, you will not throw your blades, nor will you use weapons other than those agreed. If quarter should be asked…
Macallanlover: No quarter will be asked.
Mayor: Or given.
…;-) Y’all wear the same colors. Settle down, both of you.

AHD has it right. Mac and Mayor, you are two well thought of on this blog to dip to petty depths…opinions are opinions to be debated not back stabbed like Techies or something similar. Come out of your corners, touch gloves respectfully, and spar like good GTP bloggers. ‘Nuff said!

Kids know what BYU’s standards are when they go there. Like USMA and USNA and USAFA, they know what they are getting into. Kudos to them for enforcing what they expect.

Why isn’t anyone complaining about the “stupid rule”, you know…like so many do about UGA’s drug policy?
Me? I have the same attitude toward both. The students know the rules and agree to abide by them, no matter how “stupid” they are.

Generally speaking – I agree with you, but I think the situation at BYU is a little more nuanced since it’s a private university run by the LDS Church (I assume most of their rules are led by LDS standard). Our drug policy is an internal operating philosophy that we aren’t required to have.

I agree with you. They are different universities with different funding and different purposes. And those facts bear very much on whether certain rules should exist.
My comment, however, was rooted in my frustration with some UGA fans who want to talk more about whether the rules should exist than why a kid who agreed to the rules should be expected to follow them.
They are two separate discussions, and are equally valid. But I don’t think they should be confused or substituted for one another.

What’s the deal with Mormons and earrings?
