With Florida now firmly in the driver’s seat, part of me almost hopes we have a few more losses in us so the decision is easier at the end of the year. I don’t want to hear “you can’t fire a coach who wins 8 games” at the end of the year.
Probably won’t take much hoping though. This team has 2010 written all over it.

Richt won’t be fired at the end of the year under any scenario. Quit dreaming. It’s not happening. I know “fans” wish their team the worst because that it what “fans” do after all. I generally pull for the plane to crash into a mountain, but I may be just too dedicated a “fan.” In any event, it’s not happening. CMR will be the coach in September 2016. If that bothers you there are plenty of other things to do. Maybe you could spend your time hoping someone close to you has a surgery that goes really badly or contracts an incurable disease.
If you would rather spend your time pulling for auburn, the gators and tech to beat your own team, I could think of a few even more horrible demises for people such as yourself.

I did. Its why I put in “if”. “If” losing to tech, auburn and/Florida makes his day I have nothing but hate, hostility and antipathy for him. If he wants to be a tech fan, that’s acceptable. Switch. It’s fine with me. Be a gator or an aubie or a bug. But he can’t call himself a fan of this team and pull for this team to lose. It isn’t complicated and I’m being very measured.

+1000000. Rich has always admitted he had the luck of always playing backup to other Big QB both in college and NFL. Well, he’s likely is carrying that luck over as a Head Coach, just saying. I just have to accept were the team is right now. Unfortunately this is reality. Difficult to say if it’s Richt who is the snake bitten one or Georgia. Having said that, I will always be a dawg fan and supporter and will never be otherwise.

A big-picture look at what Richt has accomplished in this time at Georgia:
Georgia has been playing football since 1892. In 123 years, the Bulldogs have had 21 seasons with 10 wins. Richt has 10 of those seasons.
Richt has won 140 games in his 14-plus seasons at Georgia, an average of about 10 wins per year. With his next win, Richt will stand alone in second place on the school’s career list behind Vince Dooley (201 in 25 years), who averaged eight wins per year.
Richt’s winning percentage, which is right at .740, is the highest of any coach in Georgia history. Dooley won 72.3 percent of his games.
Richt currently has the fifth-highest winning percentage of all active FBS coaches, behind only Urban Meyer, Bob Stoops, Saban and Gary Patterson. That’s good company.
The guy graduates a lot of his players (292 to be exact) and has run a scandal-free program. He had a stretch where too many players were getting into trouble, but Richt has effectively tightened up that part of the organization. Georgia has the toughest drug-testing policy in the SEC. Ever heard him complain about it? Me neither.
Since Richt arrived in Athens in 2001, only one school (LSU) has had more players drafted than Georgia’s 79. Some see that as evidence that he should have accomplished more. I see it as evidence that good players want to play for him.
Now I know fans don’t care about big-picture stuff. They want to win championships and big games so they can brag to their buddies who pull for other SEC schools. That’s all good.
But understand that if you are in a position of authority at the University of Georgia, you can’t look at Richt’s total body of work as coach and say, “Yeah, I know he won 10 games a year and graduated a lot of his players and kept us out of trouble with the NCAA. But, hey, he just didn’t win enough of the big ones. So we’re going to let him go.”
Right about now, I can see people rolling their eyes. If you’re an educator presented with that set of facts, you just can’t justify making a change.

CMR doesn’t deserve to be fired. He has accomplished a lot in his time at Georgia. But he has been HC here for 15 years. Paraphrasing what Steve Spurrier said when he left FU, that’s long enough to be the head coach at one university. I wish the Dawgs would salvage a reasonably good year this year and then CMR would retire. I was secretly hoping that would happen after last year. I am afraid he has used up whatever good will he generated at the beginning of his tenure. Negotiate a Tuberville type deal and resign, Mark. Maybe UGA would even build him a statue. After all, he won the SEC Championship twice and played for it 3 other times. That deserves recognition. But the hand writing is on the wall and Mark Richt has other priorities besides football.

My pure guess is 2016 and 2017 will be his last 2 chances to go for the top. Though he has shown the ability to turn around a dismal season ex. 2010 followed by fairly good 2011 and 2012. Unfortunately always ending up second or so to somebody else.

Acutally, the defense only gave up 17 in this one. But the offense couldn’t score, what 3 td’s and 2 field goals in the last 2 weeks. If we’re point fingers, look no further than coach Shotty. Love the use of tight ends. Love all the bombs on 3rd and 3. Nice touch.

Really, explain that to me. It looked to me like UT scored 38 with their offense. I don’t remember any pick sixes, blocked punts for tds or kick returns for tds.

UT came in converting 28% on 3rd down. Went 47% yesterday. Go figure. And that 4th and 8 conversion was a gamechanger. In spite of all that, if Reggie doesn’t drop, and Sony doesn’t fumble, probably get the win. So Richt is technically right when he says better execution.
But why is it UF is all the sudden better at ‘execution’? Coaching.

UF’s instant turnaround sort of lays the blame of the head coach. Shows you what can happen and how quickly it can once you fix that. CMR tends to throw his players under the bus after a loss, we just have to execute better, couldn’t be the strategy, no, never.

I disagree that we’re better than Tennessee and we beat ourselves. I think we play them 10 times and they beat us 5-7 times. Watching us offensively all season has been brutal. We run a vanilla off tackle run game that can be stopped with bodies loading the box and have no ability to pressure defenses through the air. Our defense would be a lot better if they weren’t on the field for 90 plays a game. All of the 3 and outs are killing our defense. Sometimes change just for the sake of change is a very good thing. We’re long overdue for a change.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the 2015 version of the Georgia Bulldogs football team that an Aaron Murray or Matthew Stafford wouldn’t cure. Even a Hutson Mason. Not ragging on Lambert but he isn’t comparable to what Georgia has had under center in the Richt era. Not his fault, he just got rushed into a bad situation by circumstances. If Lambert had been able to go through a spring at UGA I think things would be a lot better. But such was not the case. The bigger question to ask is: How did this happen–that Quarterback U suddenly doesn’t have a QB capable of playing SEC caliber football? I don’t know the answer but obviously somebody has fallen down on the job. Bobo? (I’m serious.)

The Belk Bowl intrigue and BM spending spree set the stage for a coaching search if that became necessary. And we’re about 90% of the way there, IMO.
A loss to Auburn or Florida would do it. More to the point, there will be a race to be first in line for Herman. I think the wheels are coming off.

Blands Pithy Wisdom, Week 6:
The foundations of a good team are laid in winter, spring, and summer workouts. This team just didn’t work hard enough then. Alabama and Tennessee put in more time and energy. That’s clear. The team isn’t strong enough. Kublanow got pancacked by the Bama DT on the very first running play of the game. We don’t have the same depth and competition either.
For the not enough talent talking point: athleticism is easily trained and improved. In running or sprinting, the more you improve the strength of your calves and thighs and core, the more power you can transfer to your steps, the more distance you can cover in a small period of time. You can get faster, stronger, quicker, and thereby more athletic if you’re dedicated in the weight room, and dedicated to proper nutrition, to appropriate rest, to hydrating correctly, to managing your stress in healthy ways. But we clearly aren’t.
But these are just kids playing out there. The coaches need to motivate the players and tell them how much to give to be great. I’m not sure if Richt and company know what that looks like.
And what can we expect when apparently ‘the hardest worker on the team’ is benched in favor of a kid with nice measurables? What kind of message is that? It’s not about dedication then is it? It’s not about doing what the coaches say, it’s not about working hard. It’s about: does coach like you? And what can we expect when a true freshman, Abram, gets more playing time than a kid in a college weight room for three years, Fenteng? What can we expect other than that true freshman getting run over by a wide receiver and a quarterback stronger and bigger and faster?

Playing a better player over a guy who is not as good but works really hard means your best players are on the field. It is great Bauta works hard, but the best player should be the starter.
I know you really think the best player should be the starter, but in your desire to fashion an argument you overlook it.

Was Tebow the best player Florida had available? Cam Newton is definitely more athletic and talented than Tebow. Stronger arm. Better mechanics. Makes better and faster decisions. The NFL’s proven his better quality. But Tebow beat him out. Why? Knowledge of the system. One of the hardest workers on the team. A person who led by example and inspired his teammates to work as hard as him. And playcalls meant to highlight his strengths and mask his deficiencies.
It just doesn’t send a good message to your offense to have Lambert starting. It tells the freshman “Why work as hard as Bauta? If the coaches don’t want you to play, you won’t play. No matter what.”

Ok, in hindsight, yes, Lambert and Ramsey were the wrong choices and we should have gone with Bauta. But hindsight, you know? But in hindsight, I agree, I think some guys just want it more, call it drive, work ethic, competitiveness, whatever.

There are no words for the last two weeks. I could stomach the Bama loss simply because they are probably the best team in the country, but Tennessee is awful and that loss is inexcusable. I am sure Richt feels the pressure and will step down at the end of the year if not sooner. Hopefully the team doesn’t quit and we can salvage the rest of the season and get back to our yearly date in the Outback Bowl to play Wisconsin again. Unfortunately, the time for change has arrived.

You can forget about CMR stepping down at the end of the season. It will not happen. While it has become so painfully obvious that our coach does not possess the fire or passion that is so much a part of winning a college football game, I have no doubt that he is quite passionate about receiving his paycheck on a regular basis. As someone stated above, CMR will be on the sideline in September 2016 whether we like it or not. I have never called for Richts’ firing, but I do believe the program has long ago peaked and will not return an SEC title as long as he is in charge. To me, the interview as he left the field at halftime yesterday spoke volumes. The team had lost their superstar and the last five minutes were disastrous, and to CMR it was just business as usual. No fire, no passion, no “we will get this straightened out”. Just kind of a shrug and hope we play better.

Will never happen. As long as the checks keep coming in, Richt stays. When the donations ROSE after the ’10 season, I knew Richt would be here forever or until he decides to leave. Georgia fans, as a group, are perfectly happy with Richt’s results and fear change more than they dislike the same old same old underachieving.

I screamed ( because of stupid plays by coach and player alike) at the tv enough to run my wife and girls out of the room where we watched the game.My eldest, gave me the side eye as she walked out i think she believes ga football makes daddy go bonkers. I returned to my normal self after the game while disappointed.I’m not part of the get rid of Richt camp.Yet, i lived through the Goff debacle so this stuff isn’t that bad to me. I thought we had a good shot at sec title this year and by some small miracle we still might have a shot.This, isn’t a great team it is more of fair to middlin i would say, our coaches, the same so we are about where we should be 4-2 this isn’t the squad the rankings said they were, in the top 10. I would be depressed, if i thought we had either great coaches who were failing or a great team who is failing.I believe we are above avg. team no more no less .Uga simply isn’t a great team only above average team. Look at the bright side, no one will be poaching our Asst coaches this year. Pruitt hitting his Granthamesque 38 points a game stride in last 2 games. I don’t count the first 4 games, nothing meaningful statistically given the low competition.

It has been a rough 10 years. The coaching carousel really turned 2 years ago when the defense staff left, then again last year when Bobo and our oline coach split. It’s hard to win with no coaching continuity. That’s 2 consecutive years with brand new coordinators.

Well, that’s not exactly right. Georgia won or tied for the Eastern Division of the SEC at least 3 times in the last 10 years. In 2007 Georgia finished the season ranked #2 in the nation without winning the SEC although everyone seems to forget it did tie for the East and UT got to play in the SECCG because of a tiebreaker. Bama didn’t get to play in the SECCG in 2011 but still got to play in the BCSNCG–and won. I am convinced that the ’07 Dawgs would have won the ’07 BCSNCG if they had gotten to play in it. And then there is of course 2012 where the Dawgs came close to winning the SECCG and would likely have won the BCSNCG if they had gotten to play in it then, too. So the last 10 years haven’t been a total wasteland. This isn’t in defense of CMR. I just don’t want anyone to think that the Georgia program has been chopped liver for the last 10 years. It hasn’t.

Just to follow up on my last post, and yes I’m aware no one on this blog cares about pro football, but the Falcons just won a game where everything went wrong for them. But they never stopped competing. Defense is 90% effort. Especially on the defensive line. We could use a little of that. Someone needs to tell our guys that it’s not against the rules to blow up the line of scrimmage.

Pruitt is Grantham like. When you saw UT down 3 off lineman, up 24-3, you thought, here we go, sack city. And we get, what, 1 sack against the 3 backup olinemen and give up 38 points? Epic suck. Damn, we got outscored 35-7 from that point on.

Shocking loss which indicates some major problems however of the two coaches or programs on the field I will take Georgia’s. The hillbillies will be chopping Butches head off soon enough -likely by the end of this year. If he happens to get the same performance as yesterday the rest of the season some other program will scoop him up and he will gladly leave if he is smart. Georgia is headed in the right direction and is a much better program.

I don’t understand most of you at all.
UGA is the arches, the university, the students, the faculty, the graduates, and all of us.
If the football team loses, it means exactly nothing to the purpose of the university, or how i feel about it.
I think you could go to the library today, and discover that no books were destroyed after either of the last two football team losses.
I think you will also discover that no academic scholarships were lost, no faculty were fired, and no campus buildings were burnt down.
No more than when the mens/womens/ basketball teams lose, or the women’s gymnastic team, or the equestrian team, or baseball or cross country or golf or swimming and diving or volley ball or track and field or the debate team.
You need to take a long look at yourselves, and ponder why you allow one sport, which you have no direct interaction with, to define your perceptions of our beloved UGA, or, in a few unfortunate cases, yourselves.
North campus, and UGA, has been there for over 200 years, and no football team has yet to make the university better, or worse.
I will be there in Sanford Stadium with my son for Mizz Saturday night.
If Georgia wins, we will be celebrating and talking about the awesome plays.
If Georgia loses, we will still be interacting and discussing the shitty plays.
And he will go back home, and so will I, and we will both turn our attention to Florida.
But the important thing, the bit we will always remember, is being in Athens on game day and going to the game together, no matter who wins.
Because we are Georgia fans, and family, and doing things together in Athens is time with your (grown) kids that is always precious, and I don’t really see how firing or keeping Mark Richt as Coach affects any of that.
But, by all means, continue arguing about which coach has failed, and whose fault it is.
I just want to have fun in Athens on a Saturday night with my son.
And winning a national championship or losing all the rest of our games this year will not change that.
We are Georgia.
We will be there every year, no matter what.
We will spend time together and make memories together.
And we don’t give one single fuck about how everyone else thinks they could be a better coach than the one we have.
We are Georgia.

If there are any fans who won’t like to watch the Dawgs at Sanford Stadium further this season or any other out of town games, just notify me and I’ll get your tickets for free. I have a lot of friends who cannot afford to see the Dawgs play at Sanford and will be extremely grateful to you to see any of the games on their lifetime. Or you can mail it to an address I can email to you.

Terrible loss. CJP did very poorly, as did everyone else. Defense was very disappointing, much to my surprise. 17 points by the offense as well. Total team loss and beaten in all phases. Hard to understand how we ever got to this point. Much, much more change should be ahead for this coaching staff in the off-season; no one is above responsibility for this historic level of underachievement.
