Say what you will about the man’s coaching abilities, this is a classy gesture.
Best of luck to you, too, Coach.

In Athens for my wife's graduation from nursing school. Able to reflect. Thanks DawgNation for the love through the years. My best to Kirby!

Best of luck to you, too, Coach.
“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23
I would call that a normal gesture from a well adjusted human being.

Yes. It’s a sign of the times that the formally “normal” is now (justifiably) reportable.

CMR for President!!!!
I would trade a 1000 obnoxious lying and slandering Trumps and Hillarys for a CMR presidency. sigh, the downward spiral of our society will continue until there is nowhere to go but up.

How about CMR for UGA AD.

unlike many of his detractors, CMR has high class. Most of his still active detractors have class, too, it’s just all low.

I’ve noticed the most obnoxiously vocal of his distractors have stayed the hell away from this comment thread.

So I guess that means that if one (me) wanted to see Richt gone, one would have low class. Really guys?

Nope. My comment has nothing to do whether you wanted him to leave or not. It has everything to do with the personal attacks thrown at him. I never read anything you wrote that was personal or “obnoxiously vocal.”
LikeLike
no, it means if you wanted him gone, he’s been gone for several months now, and you still feel the need to take personal shots at him, you have low class. If you think that describes you, so be it.

I’m become something of a Miami (unless we’re playing them of course) fan since he was announced, and this certainly is one illustration of why. I hope he gets himself a National championship down there!

Coach Richt, best to you. I hope Kirby keeps up the legacy of the class consistently shown by Coach Richt.

In keeping with how he’s always presented himself.

Whether you were in CMR’s camp (of wanting him to remain coach) or not, only a disturbed sort of individual wouldn’t respect these remarks while still yearning for him to fail at Miami.
Richt is like the classy ex girlfriend who genuinely is happy to hear of your recent engagement. In fact, she even sends a thoughtful gift while wishing you both the very best.
If society was filled with people who possessed just 1/2 of CMR’s character, it would be a hell of a lot better place.

Amen to that 3rd

3rd, I may not always agree with you (though I certainly do now), but damn if you’re not a thoughtful individual.

Well thank you sir for the kind words. But to me this was an easy one to comment on — a man’s man saying nice things about his former employer while wishing his replacement the best of luck. How can you possibly not respect any appreciate that?

Well stated, 3&G. We have some “disturbed” individuals here who hope he fails spectacularly, so they can prove to everyone else (and themselves) how smart they are. I call it RDS – Richt Derangement Syndrome.
I want him to be successful and also want Kirby to be successful. I would love to see the two universities in a championship game with these 2 on the sidelines. I would want the guys in red & black to be victorious.

CMR is a man who is comfortable in his own skin. He could not care less what the pathetic little douche bags on the internet say about him. We would all be better off if we tried to be a little more like him. By the way, I think it was time for a change, but I still have great respect for the man.

Here’s hoping that he continues his dominance of the NATS-best of luck coach.

+1 as well. I’d love to see him extend his dominance of the NATS while Kirby starts another 10-1 run. 🙂
Actually, I’d love to see Kirby run off 7 straight so collectively they both could share in the longest streak in the COFH series.

No. I want the record of the Drought broken. Kirby, you’re the man to do it. It’s the only thing the pitiful tech fan base has in the rivalry. I would love to witness the StingTalk meltdown when that day happens.

That would break the record. Kirby’s 7 + 1 from Richt equals 8 straight, a new series record jointly shared.

I like it, but don’t we need to get to 9 to create a record of our own

When Richt says, “My best to Kirby”, I think he means, “I wish I could coach UGA class of 2016 in Miami.”

Very classy indeed. I truly thought Richt was gonna get a NC in Athens up until 2008. Even after then, I was still on board.
Hope he does well in Miami or at least is happier. He looked utterly miserable from 2013 on, with the exception of about a 4 week stretch in 2014.

He looked happy in 2013 until that cow pasture in Knoxville pretty much ripped his offense apart.

Yep.

Go back and look at that 2013 season. In Clemson to start, he looked tan, lean, relaxed. By that bowl game in Jax, he looked absolutley miserable. He looked like he had gained 20 years and 30 pounds in 4 months. I honestly, 100% thought he was going to step down after that season.
LikeLike
I would have looked like I had been put through the ringer after temporarily losing my best player to an ankle injury (Gurley), seeing his running mate’s knee explode in Knoxville (Marshall), losing your best deep threat and your best possession receiver on the same day (JS-W and Bennett), and your best remaining receiver (Conley) in a game where SEC officiating absolutely stole the game from you. Throw in losing your SEC record-setting QB to a non-contact injury in his last home game after a gut-wrenching loss because of a couple of knuckleheads didn’t bat down a desperation 4th down pass. I would have been miserable by January 1 myself in that case.

Hell, the last five minutes of the Auburn game alone felt like they aged me by a couple of years, and I was only sitting in the stands. 😉

Perhaps the most obvious tell about the man is that he makes many millions and his wife is graduating from NURSING school. That says so much about both of them. No hyperbole, here – that’s character to a degree I can’t even relate to.

Well said…….I have expressed on these pages that CMR has an eternal perspective on life. We can all debate on whether that is the right way to guide a program ( I believe it is) but he is consistent in all that he says and does. Good luck coach Richt. At Miami, and in all you do!
