One more thing about the newest Gator

This poses the perfect nightmare scenario, if you’re a Georgia fan.

… He does give UF more options under center, though. And with more options, there’s a greater chance that the problems Gators have had at quarterback basically since Tim Tebow left will finally be solved.

One way those options could play in Georgia’s favor is if the Gators are still playing musical chairs at QB by the time the WLOCP is played. If you have two quarterbacks, you have no quarterbacks, as the old cliché goes. A Florida offense still trying to find its identity could be red meat for what figures to be a fantastic Bulldogs defense…

You can see it coming a mile away, can’t you?  Zaire doesn’t emerge as Florida’s starting quarterback in August and the Gator offense continues at the same level it’s been at for a while, only to see him kept under wraps during the bye week leading up to the Cocktail Party, when he gets his first start of the season, throws only ten passes, rushes for over 100 yards… yada, yada, yada.

There are times when I really hate college football.

Will he be yet another in a long line of players who have had their “coming out” party against the Dawgs only to look entirely pedestrian in every other game of their career?

        Or Greyson Lambert?

Let’s hope not. Greyson Lambert was 10-2 as a starter. The guy gets little respect but really did everything asked of him and more. DGD.

Lambert was actually 10-0 as a starter, Richt threw the Florida game by playing Bauta and pooch kicked away a win against tech after Lambert had given us the lead with less than a minute to play.

Hutson Mason is another underappreciated Georgia qb. If Richt gives Chubb the ball on the SC 4 yd line, we win the game and the East. Mason never lost a game for Georgia but lots of people act like he was terrible.

            • Agreed. Those kids deserve their props and did a stand up job.

Surely y’all aren’t insinuating that coaching was responsible for some of our losses during that period?
Both were DGD’s, as were JTIII and the “Ginger Ninja”. They all did their jobs to the best of their abilities. My question is and has been why we had to spend two seasons between stud QB’s with a career backup then a freshman?
This is why I keep harping on the redshirt for Fromm.

You’ve got a couple of different seasons running together in your narrative there.

You “guys” (and you know who I mean) need to stop the “CMR threw the 15 Cocktail Party” nonsense. It’s just ridiculous.

I don’t think JC was saying that CMR threw the JAX game in ’15 on purpose. He is just saying that it was a galactically stupid coaching decision that ended up costing the Dawgs a one-sided loss when the game might have been won for the Dawgs with a different QB. After all the Dawgs won 10 games that year even with that screw-up.

I guess those two losses in 2015 against Bama and Tennessee that Lambert started just slipped your mind. And Hutson Mason was the one who gave us the lead against Tech in 2014 before the “pooch kick”. Lambert won his only start against Tech in 2015 in Atlanta. Also, while Chubb was a freshman in 2014 and had played some, I think you meant “if Richt gives Gurley the ball on the SC 4-yard line.” Correct me if I’m wrong.

You are correct. Seasons run together for me, especially the “Groundhog Day” last decade of Richt’s tenure. It seemed like he became an expert at finding ways to lose critical games. I thought I typed Gurley, that’s who I was thinking of.

The ’15 game against Tennessee was another Mark Richt classic. I think we had a three touchdown lead with a few minutes left in the first half and managed to blow it. Lambert had a perfectly thrown ball to tie the game as I recall but it was dropped by a wide open receiver. I don’t really remember Lambert doing anything to lose that game, it was mostly a defensive collapse.

Well, due to our lack of confidence in the QB position for the 2015 season, we ended up with 6’5″ phenom Greyson Lambert. Since we are Georgia and they are Florida their graduate transfer will probably end up playing us like the next Cam Newton. Just beat them.

      Agree.
Also their nasty D is gone.
I actually like our chances to put a 2007 type beatdown on the booger eaters.
If I recall correctly, we just hired our 2007 team captain and 2007 end zone dancing specialist of the WLOCP senor Velasco! I like our chances!

Does it really matter HOW we lose. Over the last 20 years or so we have found every way possible to lose that game. I’m resigned to the fact that it’s an annual loss so I just always look at it like we start our season 0-1. Doesn’t hurt as bad when we lose and I’m glad to be wrong if we STEAL one. It is what it is until it isn’t.

The losses to FU over the years are the very losses that so often kept UGA out of the SECCG and ruined Georgia’s chances at a national title run. My premise is that if the Dawgs had beaten FU instead of consistently losing to them Georgia would have had the success that FU has had instead of FU.

This has nothing to do with the story, but I’ve been working in Gainesville, FL since last week and this place is a shithole compared to Athens.
