Monday morning buffet

Good morning, campers!  Don’t forget to pick up a tray on your way to the buffet line.

  • At 82,184, Georgia finished second in spring game attendance.  (Although I’m not really sure how they did the count.)
  • Nebraska, which finished first, made serious bank in the process.  (You’re probably thinking what I’m thinking right now.)
  • This is encouraging“We’ve seen prospects come out of academically inclined schools where the classwork is especially challenging and they had no edge over prospects who came out of other type schools that were not so highly rated academically.”
  • Nick Saban doesn’t have time for this (bull)shit.  In certain circles, that is referred to as “coaching”.
  • Every time I see a blurb like this, I think back to how much Bellamy and Carter abused Notre Dame’s offensive tackles last season.
  • Is Jeremy Pruitt simply frustrated at running a program that isn’t at the same level he’s been used to over the past few seasons?  If so, don’t look for him to relax in 2018.
  • Here’s a handy guide to college football venues where you can buy beer during the regular season.
  • The loudest sustained cheering at G-Day went to…

I really feel bad for Hurts. His game processor on pass plays is just hopelessly skewed at this point. Great kid, but it’s just not clicking for him.

Pruitt has never had a bad football team to work with, at least in college. I guess time will tell if he has the patience and determination it takes to rebuild. The two other guys that accepted the job have pretty solid success building/rebuilding programs.

Pruitt dated nothing but Miss Americas then woke up one morning married to Roseanne, but for pay. He’ll survive.

Hurts has been overrated since day one. But hey boys, he’s 119-1 as a starter. I’d be 117-3 playing qb for Bama.

Regarding attendance, some of these figures are absurdly inflated. 65K at the UT game? Are you kidding me? Did they include the population of surrounding zip codes into that figure? At least AU – for all their shadiness – didn’t try to pull the wool over our eyes with their actual attendance figures.

As for Pruitt, it’s no surprise that he’s pissed and has decided to go ahead and piss everyone else off to boot. While he’s a good coach, IMO his lack of EQ most likely will cause him problems down the road. When you take over a program that has a losing SEC record this century and is coming off a winless SEC campaign, to expect a packed house that is fired up is a bit delusional. Somebody should tell Pruitt this is why they are guaranteeing him 25 million dollars over 6 years to fix the program.

It’s almost as if Pruitt expected to UT to be in just slightly worse shape than Bama, instead of the grand canyon sized gap that currently exists.

Not sure if it was McGlinchey in particular, but ND’s o-line got abused in the Miami game too.

That moment with Chubb and Michel ranks up there with the coolest things I’ve ever seen in Sanford Stadium. If anyone deserves a full house giving them a standing ovation, it’s those two DGDs.

Pruitt inherited a soft team and a program that’s been poorly coached for over a decade. He’s an intense, hard nosed and egotistical guy that demands perfection. He’s not somebody you want to cross. His players are either going to rise to his expectation level or he’ll weed them out. It’s going to take him at least 3 years to get the type of players he wants. The question is whether he can have enough success to keep Fulmer and the crazy Vol fans happy while he rebuilds the program.

  9. Time will tell for Pruitt (obviously). When they first hired him, I thought “damn, they’re probably going to get pretty good.” I’ve waned a little bit on that.

I’m also starting to think that Kirby may have had way more than he gets credit for in actually constructing the Tuscaloosa death star, as opposed to just being a Saban disciple who happened to catch on quickly in the head seat.

I think this is true, that Kirby had a lot to do with the Empire. I am amazed that nfl guys that came from the dark side don’t slip up and say something now and then. Especially with all the social media, Lacy or Julio could easily tweet something like “yeah, Kirby is missed”.

The vols have good top 20-25 talent. Pruitt should win.

Frost at Nebraska is going to be fun to watch.
