The fake field goal up by 17 late was so good, I really didn’t care if it worked.

Auburn HC Gus Malzahn on Georgia's late fake field goal: "They coach their team, and we coach ours. I don't have any comment on that."

Also, perhaps, a little commentary on Auburn’s only way of scoring a TD/constant use of bs.

Really? It was a good play. Should have saved it for the SECCG. But in the situation of 17 up with 4 minutes to play it was a waste. Plus it was bush league. I hate Auburn as much if not more than anybody but it was bad sportsmanship and low class.

I took it as Kirby sending a message. Remember Gus’ remark last year about beating the dog shit out of us?

Gus called a throwback screen for a TD last year with 6 minutes remaining while winning by 23.
Then ran his mouth after the game. What goes around comes around, and don’t start none, won’t be none.

Exactly! Loved that F-you Gus play call by Kirby, let them whine all they want.

I also loved how Kirby took what appeared to be an intentional delay of game penalty right before the fake to make it look even more like Specs was gonna kick a FG.
LikeLiked by 1 person
It wasn’t an intentional delay of game in that respect. It was a coaching moment for Justin Fields.

^^This. Kirby could have called a TO but wanted to show Justin that was “all on you”.

There was a second delay on the kick. That was intentional to give more room for the play, I assume.

Agreed. Chickenshit call and I hate Auburn.
Have we converted a single trick play under CKS?

Thinking a little more about it… the trick play was about the 100 recruits in attendance.

Bush league? That’s a little harsh considering Gus ran it up last year on the Plains as mentioned above and ran his mouth on top of it.
You lost this one bro.

Got to have a little fun 🙂

I’m absolutely fine with rubbing Gus’s nose in it up three scores with three minutes and change left. It’s not like we can’t run this again later if need be. Also loved all the chatter about Gus’s THIRTY-TWO MILLION DOLLAR BUYOUT that Allbarn is apparently considering…

I loved this version as opposed to risking Specs as a runner. I thought he threw a pretty good pass also. Just barely missed Nauta. Had it succeeded it would have been a thermo-nuclear explosion at Sanford.

That was the right time to call a fake. I just wish Rod had thrown it inside. The stadium would have exploded.

That playcall had nothing to do with Auburn and was a beaut. Great time to practice for Bama, b/c yet again we cannot seem to slam it in from 1st and goal. Blankenship just needs to give Nauta a fraction of a second more to release, and a tad bit more air under the ball. 2 more live games to practice.

That call had everything to do with Auburn.

Maybe there is some backstory or this is revenge from last year. But, on the surface, it’s pretty crappy sportsmanship.

The backstory was last season’s end-of-game scenario. Good to make Aubrun feel the pain.

Kirby said it wasn’t personal. Hmmm…

I had zero problem with it after the crap from the game last year especially the “dog $#!+” comment.
I love that Kirby hates our rivals like we hate our rivals. Does that make me a bad person?

Keep people on their toes. Possibly blow it out of the water. It’s Auburn so who the fuck here is seriously worried about sportsmanship? It was a way of showing he doesnt respect Auburn, Gus, or their “front seven”.

Rod needs to learn to grip the laces, but not a bad arm.

I respectfully disagree about the best playcall of the year. Fourth and forever, five receiver set, and what, 20 seconds left in the half? Godwin slant for six. Kirby calling time out after letting the clock run down. Elegant play call and outcome. My “best of the year”.
YMMV

It was 4th and 5 (I believe). We caught them in a perfect defense for the call, and Fromm saw it. The DB downfield with Holloman(?) had his back turned pretty much the entire play. Godwin made a great effort to get the ball in at the goal line.

^^Now THAT is how to manage the clock and a good play call.

The fake FG wasn’t the biggest F-you play of the night. The biggest F-you play of the night was the Sanford PA crew firing up “All I Do Is Win” with the Dawgs up by 17, the game basically decided, and Cammy Cam in the stadium.
I literally cackled out loud at the TV when I heard it.

I missed that but I could have sworn I heard “Living on a Prayer” behind an AU drive in the second half.

Kirby addressed this post game. The reason he went for the fake had nothing to do with Auburn. It was math. Being up 20 versus 17 is no better because three touchdowns still beat you. That’s why.
LikeLike
If the math was the case, throw the ball into the end zone on 4th down with your offense. The fake FG was a stick in Gus’s eye whether it worked on not. Kirby’s a sly one.

If Rod had thrown a bad pass that was picked off and run back for an Auburn TD that would have gotten the lead down to 10 points with 4 minutes left in the game. An onside kick an an Auburn recovery—who knows what would have happened? This kind of reckless behavior already cost us the LSU game.

Fake field goal interception return for touchdown from the back of the Endzone seems even less likely that Auburn scoring 3 quick touchdowns. My question is… Why does anyone even care what auburn thinks about this? Suck it Gus

I DON’T care what Auburn thinks. But this kind of reckless decision making already cost us a game this season. When you do something that throws away points that’s the opposite of what coaches are supposed to do—maximize the team’s chances to win. It was a juvenile stunt.

The way the defense was playing, I wouldn’t have worried about that and I don’t think Kirby would have either.

Seriously. You can debate whether that was the right call but I fail to see how it qualifies as bad sportsmanship. Had Rod connected it would have been legendary. Kind of like Gurley’s post-suspension return kickoff TD that got called back for a phantom holding call.

After 2010, Auburn deserves as much pain in as many possible ways as we can put on them. Fuck Auburn, fuck their dirty players, fuck their dirty coaches, and fuck their legions of shitty fans who get that much more “all in” the dirtier that they play, coach, and recruit. Fuck the entire Auburn family, this generation and all the generations to come. The only two things wrong with that fake field goal were that 1) it didn’t connect, and 2) we weren’t up 98-0 at the time.

Walking out of Sanford Stadium last night, the topic of discussion from the loyalists from the East Alabama Reform School at Auburn was……
1. Could they afford Gus’s buyout.
2. Who would be their next coach.
3. Kirby had Gus’s number.
I heard no discussion about the fake field goal.
Those idiots knew it was a response from last year.
Those demented SOB’s know about payback. They probably admired Kirby for the call.
