I wonder if people have analyzed the importance of positional staff continuity. I could see this model making sense, as there are always young guys who would jump at the opportunity to move into those positions without much if any drop off in terms of development. There’s the possibility it would be harmful to recruiting. I’d be interested to see that analysis.

I dont think you would have to look very hard to find a paper explaining that high turnover is bad for whatever it is you are doing.
Saban is probably the best there has been at it and it seems pretty clear that it cost him a championship last season.

I’m not talking about high level assistants. I just think it’s possible that, say, a running backs coach is an interchangeable part.

I think having new positions coaches every 2 years or so could be advantageous because it’s a new way of coaching technique, new drills, new emphasis, etc.
I turnover kills you on the recruiting trail though. Well, it doesn’t seem to be killing Saban, but you get the idea.

Dabo seems like a nice guy unlike Herman….. I do not see that as a possibility.

If I remember correctly most of Dabos coaches are either Clemson grads or he had a Bama connection with them.

The more I learn about Tom Herman, the bigger of an a-hole he seems to be.
Dude, if the only way you can motivate your employees to work hard for you is to threaten their job security, then you’re a terrible employer. Funny how Coach Swinney’s staff at Clemson has remained motivated all these years despite the fact they don’t have to stay up late at night wondering if they’ll have a job the following July.

Insofar as Tom Herman isn’t getting canned their jobs are safe. If that’s not good enough for them, find another job, but it’s Texas and there aren’t many jobs better so…….
I guess I really don’t see the problem other than how Herman talked about it. All he had to say was “we believe in 1 year deals” and nobody would have cared. This is about political correctness or what?
