The rewards of amateurism

You really can’t make this shit up.

Of course, he’s doing it for the kids.

Gosh, imagine how he could live if his network and his conference were actually successful.

I wonder if that place has a continental breakfast.

A friendly reminder that the Presidents of institutions such as Southern California, Stanford, UCLA, and Cal-Berkeley are apparently fine with this guy running the conference that binds them together. Then again, for all the academic esteem of those institutions the various states of disarray in the Athletic Departments of USC, UCLA, and Cal, maybe Scott is the leader they all deserve.

He got it for free. Vegas is buttering the hand that will lead to more gambling revenue.

More than likely a comp for sure…for entertaining, etc….that’s how Vegas works..

It doesn’t matter if it was comped or not….the optics on that look horrible, and he should have had enough smarts or ethics to turn it down.

        “…enough smarts or ethics…”

That’s two strikes right there. I’d say the fact that he’s apparently terrible at his job should be the third strike.

    L. O. L. 3 P12 universities in that initial list.

Looks like some coaches were being paid to slide athletic scholarships to non-athletes to get them into elite universities? And navigate the “let someone else take the SAT for you” thing?

Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin. Two names you probably weren’t expecting in a college sports cheating story.

That’s a pretty creative way to bribe your kid into their dream school.

This story is catching absolute fire right now. I, personally, can’t wait to see who(m) else is uncovered in this.

I’m bummed. I had Uncle Joey in the Full House Felony pool. OTOH, looking forward to a Full House/Orange is the New Black crossover. From Full House to The Big House!

You can’t expect him to stay with the hoi polloi. Why he’s a conference commissioner!

I’m sorry…that is utterly insane. The CEO of the multi-billion dollar firm I work for recently stayed in the same room type as the rest of us at a recent tech conference. And he runs a for profit company that doesn’t derive the majority of it’s revenue from unpaid labor.

Seriously, not many things get my hackles up these days…but that again is absurd.
