Just curious, since I didn’t get out much this weekend, if anyone’s seen this and can tell the class where it is:
The cowbell with the pirate’s logo is a nice touch.

@MrCFB What do you make of this Mike Leach billboard in suburban Atlanta, where the only Bulldogs are the UGA kind? And on the eve of the CFB champ. Maybe a bold statement that MSU is a program to be taken seriously now? pic.twitter.com/voicbIIHK2

“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23
I saw that … generally, my thought was that’s a waste of money.

There was one on both sides of the digital billboard at the intersection of Barrett Parkway and Dallas Highway in West Cobb. IIRC, it is a few miles from Harrison HS, Justin Field’s haunt.

They should just go ahead and become the Pirates, and quit being the fake Bulldogs. Yarrrrrr.

99.9% of the people who see that sign either A) Don’t know who Mike Leach is, B) Don’t know where Starkville without a map. C) Don’t care.
Wrong city. They should stick to Birmingham.

I wonder if there are similar billboards in B’ham, Nashville, New Orleans, various Florida cities, etc.

Seen one of those just off the Buford/Mall of GA exit of 985.

Saw it in East Cobb. Roswell Rd right before Sewell Mill red light over Rocco’s Garage.

I saw it in the same location on Saturday afternoon, bp.

Saw the same location Friday evening and was impressed by how quickly they got it made, distributed, and running. It’s a digital billboard that rotates ads, so that’s likely a much quicker installation with a file upload rather than having to manufacture and physically install it.

I actually think it is brilliant on their part. There is a large pool of athletes in Atlanta.

It is. Publicity is always good.
As for the one in West Cobb..it’s right where McEachern, Marietta HS, and Harrison districts collide.
And notice the ref to “Starkvegas” in the corner..

My Gawd….UGA crootin’ is doomed now, with the “404” brain trust brewing up a new “WH” crootin’ scheme and billboards calling all leach type pirates, UGA will lose all cred in the state of Ga….thank Gawd Kirb’s be crootin’ nationallly….

^^This. There are soooooo many top level recruits in the metro Atlanta area that mining this vein of gold can really help Leach and the Missy State program. There is a bigger presence in the Atlanta area of Missy State alumni than you might think, too. Given the type of offense Leach runs I’d be willing to predict that Leach signs some really good receivers and QB prospects from Georgia. I mean, if you were a top quality Tight End, would you rather play for Leach or Kirby? Just sayin.’

Does leach use a tight end? Thought he was all spread with 4 wideouts and 1 running back?

Forget it, Gas, he’s rolling. 😉

Leach doesn’t use 11 personnel. It is all 4 wide.

I saw it Saturday afternoon on the top-end of 285 driving west toward 75. Think it was about halfway between 400 and Roswell Rd. My 12-yr old daughter saw it before I did and immediately asked me why it was here in Atlanta.

I saw one, but I’m so old I can’t remember where it was. Think on 75.

Aside from athletes, Mississippi schools have followed the lead of Alabama schools of recruiting heavily in metro ATL.
Kids that can’t get into UGA or Tech and have parents w/ too much money and can’t stomach the idea of going to Southern or Valdosta anymore so instead go to Bama, MSU, Ole Miss and brag about the HUGE scholarship they get

There’s another one on 85 south just before you hit the connector. It rotates and shares time with something else. Must be all over town.

I don’t get why people get the vapors every time an opposing team like Mississippi State or Auburn puts up a billboard in the ATL. One, they’ve probably got more alums there than anyplace else. Two, there are going to be more eyeballs period on that thing in Atlanta than there would be anywhere in Alabama or Mississippi.
I do think it’s funny, though, that whenever this happens, everybody asks if it’s a shot across UGA’s bow and not Tech’s…because Tech’s so irrelevant they’re not even worth the time it would take to throw shade at them.

So they’re going after Kennesaw State recruits?

Yeah saw that in the 404, right above a Waffle House.

I think this is more about competing with Bama/Auburn/Ole Miss/UTK for out of state tuition dollars than anything else. Sounds like the billboards are in areas where you have a lot of students who really want to go to an SEC school but UGA is not an option.
