How green were my tackles.

Looking at this roster breakdown, here’s how Kipp Adams sees the offensive tackle options:

Six of the seven there are freshmen, in one form or fashion.  The coaches almost have to move Salyer to one of the tackle spots, don’t they?

  1. I have thought it was a given that Salyer would be at one of the tackle spots.

Yep. Really should include Salyer in the OT bunch. And showing just the OTs is a bit misleading, as we’re absolutely loaded at G and C.

Wow this appears to be a very young roster. Talented too.

I have to think we might have an Andrew Thomas in that group.

I think Broderick Jones is going to have a lot to say about this. I’d prefer to have Salyer at Guard and I think Luke would, too.

Somebody needs to applaud the great header, so I am.

We’re young and inexperienced at OT, we’ll have a new QB, we have RBs who show great potential but aren’t proven, we have Pickens but other receivers havent played up to their potential, yet.

I’m a little pessimistic about the O this year, hope it’s just my inner Dooley.

The noise was on Truss. I think he will definitely rotate in. No way Salyer is not a tackle this season. Id rather have him than Mays on the end had he not transferrred.

If they don’t have Salyer at one of the tackles, where are they going to put him? He is (in my opinion) our most athletic returning lineman. The middle of the line with Hill at C, Schaffer at LG, and Cleveland at RG seems pretty well set. Broderick Jones is going to be a candidate to win one of the tackle spots. I can see him in an Andrew Thomas role where he starts at RT as a freshman and then moves over to LT in ‘21. Salyer has to be the starting LT almost by default at this point. I think he will do a great job there.

  9. UGA’s staff/OL coach/OC are once again going to earn their pay check$ with this supposedly inexperience in sec football participation…OL in the past has started talented freshmen and i don’t see that stopping any time soon….crootin’ at a high level (bammers go thru it with regularity) staff’s only have these student athletes for 2/3 years, then the next level calls

I would rather have a 4* or 5* with limited experience than a 3* who has years of experience as a turnstile. In days of old we had experienced lines that were huge and seasoned but were as porous as a screen door. We have proven with Andrew Thomas (true freshman) and again with Isaiah Wilson (redshirt freshman) that a talented well coached youngster can handle the position.

I’d bet dollars to donuts that it’s:
    LT – Salyer
    LG – Shaffer
    C – Hill
    RG – Cleveland
RT – Truss (unless one of the TFs blows the doors off in a short amount of time)

Well, they will have the opportunity at practice to go (learn) against the best defensive line they will see all year.
