Saban vs. the field

Welp, seeing as most of them face Saban regularly, I can’t really say I’m too surprised.

Changing divisions might be the best thing that ever happened to the Portal Master™, though.

It’s one thing to be 2-6, but 12-35 is without doubt indication of a flaw.

I’m guessing that the 2-6 mark you mention is the Portal Master’s record at fu? If so, he really has managed to convince every lizard fan and most of the media that he’s a MUCH BETTER coach than he is in reality. I guess getting 10 wins with that program carries a ton of weight in the CFB media circles. In reality, 10 wins should be the floor for an SEC program located in a state with a plethora of elite HS talent like there is in Florida. That’s not even considering the fact that the other two powers are, and have been, struggling mightily for the past 5+ years.

All that being said, I will be praying every night for sweet baby Jesus to bless us with a CFB season this year. I believe the Dawg D could pitch a shutout in Jax this year. How utterly sweet would that be? I mean, the lizards are certain they have a unstoppable offense led by a Heisman contender at QB. So I pray that I will be blessed as a witness to the ultimate destruction of the jort wearing lizard delusion which is a team that has closed the gap on our Dawgs! Oh HELL no! It’s gonna be an ugly & horrific day for them there lizards as our Dawgs feast on their hopes and dreams! I can’t wait!!!

      Oh, and FTMF!!!!!!!

Cue the “I’ll take a coach that can go 12-35 with 3 stars over a coach that can go 14-9 with 4-5 stars any day” talk

I had a hard time with the team logos for a minute, then I realized they’d fit multiple logos into the same graphic for the ones who have coached at different schools.

    I’m a little surprised that Jimbo isn’t above .500 and I would’ve guessed Kirby’s record would’ve been slightly better.

I am curious how many of those 9 losses came in his first year….

That was my thought as well, and I’m gonna guess 4. Outside of that first year, it’s the two losses to Bama, two to LSU, and once to Auburn. I’m assuming SC wasn’t ranked in the top 25 when we lost to them last year.

        2019 – 1 (LSU)

The measure is ranked at the time of the game rather than ranking at year-end.

Ah, I forgot about Texas. Should’ve remembered the Alamo.

          • It was rather forgettable as someone who was there. At the time, I hadn’t been that ticked off at a Georgia loss since the Vandy homecoming debacle.

We had gotten beaten in the meantime by some better teams (Fech ’16 excluded – that was a brain fart from the sideline), but I hadn’t seen a Georgia team mail it in against a worthy opponent like that night in the Big Easy.

              • I take that back about mailing it in … The ultimate mail it in game against a worthy opponent was the Sugar Bowl vs. West Virginia. My dad said on the train back to our hotel that Richt shouldn’t have let Willie Martinez on the bus back to Athens that night.

All I remember is that we have the ball at midfield and go 3 and out without attacking them. They score with a 95-yard drive. Then, he lets Eason throw it when it was clearly the time to try to run clock, punt the ball, and force them to go the length of the field … interception.

                • When we lost a DB, and then another I think, Johnson saw it and started throwing deep. Kirby was totally wrapped up in subbing the “right” players in and was losing the chess match, and should have just called a TO. The more experienced Johnson got the best of the situation ad kirby was frantic and Johnson exploited an opportunity. Our D never really got set. Itd been better not to sub and call a pass D really, or TO. A HC looking at the bigger picture instead of micro management would have seen it. It was just messy.

WHAAAAT? The Genius football coach Mike Leach has a LOSING record against Top 25 teams? Even with that futuristic offense he runs? Wow, I’m truly shocked and surprised!

Be careful about underestimating Mike Leach. The guy is a PR circus clown, but you know he wasn’t working with the best players in CFB if people are saying Mississippi State is a talent upgrade. Still pulled off a few massive upsets, including 4 wins over top 10 teams. He may not be the most consistent, but he’s dangerous.

What stands out to me is Stoops compared to the others, all while doing it UK. Meanwhile guys below him with worse records (albeit not by a lot) at programs with much better resources. Will be interesting to see what he can do at a bigger program, assuming that oppty comes along at some point.

But what if the HC ‘guarantees’ a win before the actual game is played? Also left out simulated wins. So this stat is obviously fake news.

That 7-0 vs top 25 for LSU last year sure helped Orgeron’s career numbers…

Orgeron has whipped our asses twice and won a NC.

Yet he’s still a joke to some people; I don’t get it.

He’s not a joke to me. He makes good hires and delegates authority to them. That’s how he wins. Plus he’s a great recruiter.

The Portal Master is closer to 0% wins than he is to Kirby. And that’s without coaching in a championship game.

If UT pulls an upset in the Meteor game, he’ll be looking up at Pruitt.
