The least surprising thing I’ve learned in the wake of the news about the death of Harvey Updyke is that he named his son Bear.

“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23

“Updyke is such an Alabama zealot, he named his daughter Crimson Tyde and his son Bear. He wanted to name another child Ally ‘Bama, but that was vetoed by his third wife. Even his dog is named Nick after Alabama coach Nick Saban”

Sorry, but keeping up with Updyke’s biography hasn’t been a high priority for me.

When I heard someone poisoned the trees, I felt bad for Auburn for nearly 30 seconds.
I’ll never forgive Harvey Updyke for that.

It’s a shame when someone goes to the extreme like he did. But, I have to admit, I did laugh when he was defending his actions and commented, “it’s not like I tried to kill their crow that flies around”

It has nothing to do with Bryant. He named him that because he shits in the woods.
