Last Saturday in Athens gets easier to understand.
Oy.
Gus Malzahn said that the reason Arkansas broke their SEC losing streak last week and they are playing harder is that they are well coached now. Arkansas’s coach before this season was Chad Morris, who is Gus’s offensive coordinator at Auburn now. Good job, Gustav.

“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23
Typical Gus. Our Auburn win will dawggrade itself over the course of the season. I suspect Auburn finishes under .500.

I’d say not, our D is going to frustrate a lot of teams.

I do think our D is probably the best I’ve seen at UGA, at least in my recent memory.

Dude, this win has already been dawggraded.

And the Saturday before, for that matter. I said after the Arky game that they were going to surprise someone this year. Didn’t take long…

Way to build up that staff loyalty there Gus.

Wow. Gus has never come across as the brightest bulb, but this gaffe takes the cake. I can’t imagine how frosty the offensive strategy session in Greater Opelika was this morning.
I bet Morris is already telling his wife to sign up the moving company for his next stop.

This is gotdamm hilarious. 1,000 cocktails to you, sir.
I guess the annual meeting isn’t being held on a tarmac due to COVID concerns. Safety first, I always say.

I don’t think it’s really a gaffe. I honestly think that Gus is a monumental asshole.

If it was intentional, it’s one of the greatest “owns” of all time, directed from one Auburn coach to another. If it wasn’t, it was stupidity distilled to its essence, like an opium poppy to heroin. Either way, it’s glorious. “Hook it to my veins.”

Gus Malzahn has made so much money off of Cam Newton and two extremely unlikely fluke plays. I respect the hustle.

Seriously. Never thought about it that way but totally true

I believe Chizik was the coach for Cam.

True, but Malzahn was the OC.

When Chizik went winless in the SEC in 2012 in the first season after Malzahn left as OC, anybody in Auburn would tell you that Chizik was just lucky to have been there and Malzahn was the reason they won the national title. That’s why they dumptrucked Chizik and hired Malzahn.

LOL I just did a quick read on Wikipedia about the 2012 Auburn Tigers and I had forgotten that good ol’ Brian VanGorder was the defensive coordinator and brought in none other than Willie Martinez to coach DBs that season.

But what does this say about AU? Don’t think many thought they were playing so well last Saturday. LOL.

Man, that’s just rude. I was trying to decide who I disliked more, Saban or Kiffin. Malzahn supersedes both of those jerks. What an asshole.

Concur. It’s like the thought never crossed his mind, “Who was the coach at Ark before Pittman?”

That truly works on many levels, with many different ingredients, slow-cooked to perfection. It’s like a béchamel sauce of SEC narratives. It pairs well with just about anything.

I hope a Bammer booster can hire a plane banner to fly over the AU sandpit with: “Arky not well coached last year and neither is AU”

Here’s the direct quote from 247:
“Well, what stands out to me is they’re playing extremely hard. When you got a team that’s playing extremely hard, I believe that’s coaching, so hat’s off to those guys. They’re off to a very good start. Like I said, Sam is a football coach, and he’s got those guys playing extremely hard.”
