The key to Saturday’s game

Usually, I just mention turnovers as a background caveat to the outcome of a Georgia game, but in Kentucky’s case, it’s not background.  It’s front and center.

What would it take for Kentucky to pull off an upset over Georgia this Saturday?

JC: Turnovers, turnovers, turnovers. And more turnovers. Kentucky grounded Mississippi State’s “Air Raid” with six interceptions in a 24-2 win. It picked off three passes and forced a fumble in the win at Tennessee. Jordan Wright register a Pick Six versus MSU. Kelvin Joseph and Jamin Davis each registered a Pick Six in Knoxville. Stoops could use one (or more) of those on Saturday.

Here’s UK’s offensive game log so far.

The ‘Cats lost a game when they averaged better than seven and a half yards a play and won one by better than three touchdowns averaging less than three yards a play.

Overlay that with their turnover margin game log and it begins to make sense.

Kentucky is 2-0 in games with positive turnover margin and 0-3 in games with negative turnover margin.  It’s a good team, but not good enough to survive its mistakes.

Hopefully, the staff has gotten the message to Bennett about that.

All manball and no passing makes Georgia a dull offense. All manball and no passing makes Georgia a dull offense.

Somehow “manball” sounds like we’re screwing ourselves. Just sayin’!

If we’re going to run inside zone over and over, I don’t think we will be able to say our offense will have gotten more prepared to beat Alabama.

Believe this game will be very, very tough. Noon games are weird. Dawgs may be kind of flat after losing to Bama. Kentucky will have nothing to lose. Whenever I see a win being taken for granted by the media and even fans, I get worried.

I seem to recall Kirby having Bennett focus on ball security on the off week. Crazy thought, I know, but maybe, just maybe, there is an off chance Kirby knows what the hell he’s doing. I know, man ball and all that something something.

    Enough of this questioning Kirby.

He’s the best coach we’ve had since Mark Richt.
