Is this a real cause for concern?
I ask, because here’s a comparison between Georgia’s 2017 passing game, and Georgia’s passing game under JT Daniels:
- 2017: 61% completion rate, 176.9 yards per game, 1.6 touchdowns per game
- 2020: 66.9% completion rate, 310.8 yards per game, 2.5 touchdowns per game
Oh, as far as scoring goes, the 2017 average was 35.4 points per game and the average from Georgia’s last four games of 2020 was 36.5 ppg.
Bottom line, I don’t care how they get in the end zone, as long as they get there.
Its not like replacing Chubb and Micheal is easy.

And D’Andre Swift. Having all three of those guys in the backfield at one time is some serious wows.

If you take into account the flips and short designed passes to running backs that are actually “exotic” handoffs to get them in space wouldn’t that or shouldn’t that factor into the running game stats?

That’s a question for Dayne Young, not me.

It probably wouldn’t suit the “Sky is falling on Georgia’s run game” narrative if it did.

Have you seen the play the Chiefs run near the goal line where Mahomes underhands the ball to the TE cutting behind the LOS, much like an option toss? Almost undefendable, seems like, I’ve yet to see it not work. Mahomes gets credit for a TD pass on those plays.

I would love to see #0 on that play!

Always been a fan of the i formation. Lead blocker = more yards.

Honestly, I think 2017 will probably be more and more an anomaly the further we get from it. That offensive line was fantastic and the backs were even better. Their ability to hit massive explosive plays off of simple inside zone and split zone plays isn’t normal.
If it were, everyone would do it.

“Manball” approves of this message…

It was more than manball though. It wasn’t just getting 4 yards at a time. It was getting 4 yards, 4 yards, 4 yards, 35 yards.

As much as I like the improved passing post JT, I was concerned when we couldn’t run the ball at times. It seems like we should be better if you look at the talent we have on the OL (at least according to recruiting rankings). I notice this even more on short yardage plays. It will be interesting how balanced we can be against really good teams. I am looking forward to JT starting against Clemson, Florida, etc.

I love seeing a beautifully executed pass and catch – especially by Georgia Bulldogs. I love seeing a big, fast, elusive back, or a small shifty one take the ball down the field- especially by Georgia Bulldogs. I want to see both well executed passing and dominating running – they should be complimentary not exclusive.
