Dennis Dodd is back with his coaches hot seat ratings.
The Hot Seat has long been an accurate predictor in terms of job security. Over the last five years, 23 of the 35 coaches rated 4 or worse in the preseason eventually lost their jobs (66%).
Entering the 2022 season, there are only eight coaches on the proverbial hot seat (rated 4 or higher).
Only eight, eh? Seems like a tight fit for both Coach 404 and Bryan Harsin, amirite? Nah.
Each is impressive in his own way. Harsin’s managed to get there in only his second season, while Collins has managed to trash his prospects at a place that really doesn’t have the money to get rid of him. Salut, gentlemen!
JABA – that is begging to be a Lexicon entry with props to Dodd (I just threw up a little in my mouth after typing that)
Atlanta’s team? Hahahahahahahahaha! That hasn’t been remotely true since the Johnny Griffith era.

The “job security written in invisible ink” line is pretty damn good as well and it pains me to say that.

I think Harsin will bounce back if they both get canned a little quicker…the odd thing is even if Harsin screws up and has a good season many pundits and Barner fans expect him to leave on his own volition…no wonder no recruit wants to sign with Auburn.

As someone who lives in the metro Atlanta area, Atlanta already has a team. It’s in Athens. If we don’t wanna watch Georgia play, we’ll watch either the owls or the Panthers. We don’t need another team

Looks like Kirby’s going to get some dudes some buyout money this fall!

A few years ago, an article listed major metro areas and the sports program that meant the most to that area. New York was the Yankees, Chicago the Bears, Dallas the Cowboys, etc., etc.. For Atlanta it was the Bulldogs. The article noted the Braves as second in Atlanta but said something to the effect that the Braves gave Atlanta sports fans something to focus on until college football started back up in September.
Collins is a clown of the highest order. I hope he wins enough this season to keep his job as long as beating Georgia isn’t the thing that saves him.

Nothing about Georgia Tech has been, is, or ever will be fun or unique. They aren’t even uniquely bad. They’re the Fat Steven Seagal of universities.

Uhhhh…. first problem with making Atlanta the “fun midway point between Clemson and Alabama” is that spot is already taken…. BY THE DAWGS.

A day or two ago someone here referred to GT as the “Fightin’ Waffles.”
Hqas anyone noticed how much that “Honeycomb” logo of theirs looks just like a darned waffle?!
Perfect!!!!

Harsin is gonna run Tank into the ground this year.

As long as he stays in bounds against the Gumps.
I wonder if Tank regrets not getting out of Greater Opelika when he had the chance.

Interesting article, but there’s no way Scott Frost, for all his faults, is on a hotter seat than Harsin or Collins.
Frost is a favorite son whose program was the victim of some terrible breaks last season but is still packing stadiums. He can’t go 3–9 again, but if he ekes out bowl eligibility the fan base will come up with a reason to give him the benefit of the doubt.
Harsin, on the other hand, has been walking around with the red dot of some booster’s laser sight on the back of his head since March; the fans that are standing by him are only doing so as a protest against that booster culture. And Collins doesn’t have any fans standing by him at all. He only stays on if Tech decides they still don’t have enough money to fire him.

I don’t care for Auburn, but I’ll be pulling for them against the Gumps and the Aggies.

Collins has better job security than most of the HCs in cfb. Gtu doesn’t have the money to buy him out. And even if they had the bucks to throw at a replacement, nobody worth having would take the job.

Can’t they ask all their millionaire alumni to donate enough to buy out Gee-off? Don’t they always spout something like 1 out of 3 tech alumni are millionaires?
