Habemus 12-team CFP!

What a fucking joke these people are.

All that Alliance posturing was total bullshit.

That being said, it won’t hurt my feelings if they can’t move up the change from 2026.

The alliance was the B1G f***king the PAC12 and ACC to get their 7B fox/nbc/cbs deal and make sure ESPN didn’t get exclusive rights to expanded playoff

Damn seems to me the regular season has been diminished.

At least Georgia won it before it went FUBAR. Be nice to squeeze in another this season. Then they can commence castrating the sport.

We all knew it was coming. Doesn’t suck any less, but it was inevitable. As soon as some of the big players got left out of the playoffs because they were not good enough, the rules were bound to be changed to “dumb it down”.

Will be some funny shit when a similar “2011 seven loss NYGiants” gets hot at the right time and wins a national title over a 18-0 Bama.

And that seven loss team, is none other than your UGA football Bulldogs, #1 in your heart and on the screen of every fucking tv in America…GO DAWGS!

Oh, I was in Omaha to watch a 4-seed Fresno State that got hot starting in their conference tournament beat us for a national title. I’m still scarred from that.

Nice headline, but an appropriate smoke graphic would have been a killer.

I’m fighting like hell to keep my passion for CFB burning, this news definitely doesn’t help. The fact that we won it last year scratched the itch that’s been burning since I was in elementary school. Not saying that I won’t watch games in the future because I’m know I will. I’ll enjoy the good times that Kirby has brought us, but definitely see the day soon coming where it becomes more of a casual Fall viewing from Section HD rather than a year-round way of life.

  10. Welcome to the NFL lite. Tradition means nothing if you can make a buck pissing on it. Glad we won one in my lifetime while college football was still recognizable.

  11. I’m definitely not an expansion advocate, but it could have been worse. An 8-team playoff with 6 AQs or a 16-team playoff is worse than the 12-team we’re getting.

Is it just me or does this feel like a way to stop the destabilizing force of realignment? I think realignment is the greater evil to college sports overall but football in particular.

This solution likely keeps both the Pac 12 and Big 12 from raiding one another, and the ACC will be able to make sure their champion is in every year.

If expansion was going to happen, I would have rather seen an 8-team playoff with no AQs.

I guess none of the Pac 12, Big 12, or ACC will consider merging now. Would take away a guaranteed playoff spot. But hey, if they do merge, maybe like Georgia State will get in one year.

If you’re going to do 12, that’s the format. 6/6

Trouble is, the SEC will be the most competitive conference with the lowest stakes in big games. 1 champ plus any number of those 6 at larges? That’s AT LEAST two every year, and I’d say the average will be around 3, if. It 3.5 or so.

Only benefit of this, if you call it that, is that we’ll be in this playoff most years at our current level

What bothers me is that if we game out this current season under the new format, if we clinch the East before the KY game it’s likely that we run the 2nd and 3rd teams for that game and kind of feel out what the West team does for the SECCG whether we field the 1’s. Taking an L in both games likely doesn’t change anything, which means the SECC is a hollow version of itself.

This kind of thing isn’t a concern for a dominant team in the ACC, PAC, B12, the team on top of those conferences will be in a class of their own. The SEC and maybe the B1G? It will be cutthroat sandbagging the first opportunity during the reg season. Sounds like the no fun league to me.

Just by my 2 beers in after a long week math we would have made it every year since 2017 and would have been in the finals another time or two.

Not sure of your age, but I remember when making a bowl was a real accomplishment because there were only a dozen or so. Then the bowl number exploded so now you have exemptions for 6 and 7 loss teams to be invited to a bowl.

The playoffs will soon be like that.

How are they going to find days to play all these games against the nfl schedule?

They apply a liberal amount of Gorilla Glue to our seats so we never turn away from the tube. NFL Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday to add to Sunday, Monday & Thursday already on the schedule. CFB Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Oh goodie.

I got shouted and and kicked out of a twitter space for this take, but I’m afraid it’s an inevitability. If not when. https://twitter.com/craig_lawson/status/1565919043252527104?s=21&t=nrep7uPA2s5wnqOIq9JUyA
