Playing the respect card

They’re ranked number one.  They’re getting plenty of respect from the media, as two of today’s posts indicate.  Yet there’s still a need to squeeze out a little fake juice, apparently.

Nevertheless, an offense always starts with the quarterback. Bennett has come out of the gates firing in 2022, launching himself into the Heisman Trophy conversation – something many never would have expected from him.

“I honestly feel like he’s trying to earn his respect,” Jackson said. “I mean, he led us to a national championship last year, and people still don’t respect him and this team.”

Yeah, lack of respect.  That’s Georgia’s problem right now.  Hey, if that works for you, Kearis, more power to you.

  1. If the Ohio State QB stumbles, and USC lays a turd, I think Stet rockets to heisman front runner.

I don’t think Bama’s dude deserves to be the 2nd repeat.

I am for whatever Kirbs uses to keep these guys grounded. I can’t remember a national champion talked about less in the off season. Now it’s rat poison every time I open my phone. Stay hungry pups!

Maybe they get that the same experts who proclaimed Georgia lost too many great players to repeat are the same full of shit writers/talking heads who are proclaiming them the best team in CFB. Their truth is this team still hasn’t won anything and needs to keep grinding everyday until they have crushed every obstacle put in front of them.

I’m enjoying every single dose rat poison. I’m immune bring it on.

Playing in the shadow of the bammers has hardened any relative feelings or thoughts coming from any media source, good, bad or indifferent vs UGA football, UGA football knows who they are, they know where they’ve been, where they want to go and how to get there, UGA fan base supports that direction, kinda’ get the feeling (?) BM/admin $upport$ that direction (for now anyway), everybody else can kiss my pale white ass, at least till UGA football has to purchase a bigger trophy case…GO DAWGS!

I kinda get that thought train. Every time I get into a social media, I see tons of comments full of disrespect for the Dawgs; mostly uneducated fan bases. But they are there. And a lot of media personalities don’t respect UGA, such as Kannell and even Mike Griffith at times. The constant “UGA is just the beneficiary of a weak schedule” has grown moldy, as has the “Dawgs just have a hood OL that allows Bennett some space”
So I can see why KJ would say that he just doesn’t get respect.

Stetson Bennett turned into Rodney Dangerfield so fast I didn’t even notice.

  7. Seems more about Stet himself than about the team, IMHO. While some media have come around, there is still plenty of talk that doesn’t respect him. They downplay his competition. They criticize his target depth. Is Bud Elliot still straight up saying “Stetson Bennett is not a good quarterback”?

I don’t think this is “fake juice” as much as an honest portrayal of what Stetson probably faces in his mind. He did all he did, and people still wanted him gone. They wanted him to ride off into the sunset (folks on this blog). People still talk trash, saying he can’t get drafted. Mike Griffith tried to drum up a QB controversy in the spring, and still takes every opportunity to extol Carson Beck.

The respect is growing, but it’s understandable for the kid to not feel like he gets it in total.

But hey, nobody respected Bryce Young either…. Right?

Well, we did get a steady diet of shit-talking from bama supporters during the off season, whether it was the Williams and Metchie bs or saban with his “it was a rebuilding year” excuse.

I can understand if some of our guys feel like they need to shut some detractors up.

This team has a burn them all down mentality. Kirby knows how to work them so hard that the games are easy. They know they go up against the best in practice so the Saturday opponents don’t scare them or in most cases slow them down. My only reservation is that they get used to playing 3 quarters and are not in shape for a 4 quarter game.

The guys I know who played for Dooley say his practices were brutal. Practice lasted until it was too dark to practice any longer. They say their favorite day of Fall was when the time changed back to standard time so they could leave practice an hour earlier. They said every practice was full contact, full speed ones vs ones.

They also say they never went into a game thinking the other team was tougher or in better shape than they were. The ones who played defense for Erk said Erk had them fully believing they were the baddest SOB on the planet and no one could stand up to them for a full game.
