Waiting for the Waffle House shoe to drop

Could be ominous.

Then again, maybe they’re just getting together to give Geoff a vote of confidence.

UPDATE:  Er… maybe not.

The biggest challenge they face is how to find some poor soul to run this dumpster fire for the last 8 games of the season.

I can’t understand why they fire him now. I’d make him take the rest of these losses and I don’t see them winning another game this season. It’s not like he’s going to agree to less money now than he will in late November.

Hold on now, nerdfootball admin can’t judge their hc’s accomplishments based on the loss to UCF…yesterday that team showed?…….and that they had?………the hc knows what he’s doing?……WTF, go ahead and fire him….

I figure it is because the boosters who will pay the buyout want him gone NOW, not next month or next week.

nerdfootball isn’t gonna’ get any better if they cut their hc loose today, tomorrow or next month, north avenue fucking trade school still sucks…SIC ‘EM DAWGS!

  4. I don’t get why they are doing this now. If they engage a search firm, they can do all of the behind the scenes work before November. It’s not like they are going to be able to recruit as a lame duck coaching staff for whoever is next.

I have absolutely no idea who will take this job at this point. I could see that coach saying “I ain’t coming because I don’t want to be measured against Kirby Smart and Dabo Swinney with clearly inferior players.”

Most D2-3 coaches who would like a bigger payday on a bigger stage. If they catch a little lightning in a bottle and win like Wake has the past couple years that could lead to bigger things. Hell Tech won a co national championship in 1990. Better can be done there. They’ve been so shitty for so long the majority of their fan base doesn’t think being decent is even possible. They’re in the ACC for Gawd’s sake. How hard can it be to be average in that shitty conference? Half their league could lose to Vanderbilt any given year. Do better Tech. Your stink is rubbing off on us a little by making our schedule even worse.

Shit, Ill do it for half the money of Geoff’s contract and one third of the buyout. Okay, I don’t have any experience, but how could it be worse than it is now?

About right now Collins is saying: “please don’t throw me in the briar patch, pleeeease don’t throw me in the briar patch”

Collins may be thinking ” these Tech guys think they are sooo smart, but they let a salesman from Conyers and Western Carolina like me take their money and pull their pants down. Is this a great country or what.”

I think they fire him now to counter the spreading discussion that GT has no interest in big time sports, particularly football. They have shifted to academic emphasis over everything else including educating Georgia students.

But wouldn’t they better prove this commitment by saving money for the next regime I stead of pissing it away on a person who was from the jump unqualified and inept.
For all the talk about Nebraska hiring the guy from Kansas, Tech is who would most benefit from getting someone to teach them the basics. If they go the recruiter route again it’s gonna be even worse for them in 2-3 years.

Logically, you are correct. They should save money if they can. My point is that it is an emotional, public perception problem which is overriding dollars and cents.

They also have to get a jump on any real jobs that may become available later in the season. The more jobs available, the less desirable the Tech job looks.

Hey man I’m gonna miss Geoff and I’m sad to see him go, felt the same way about Dan Mullen. Those two gentlemen were doing the lord’s work if you ask me but alas all good things (like completely destroying our rivals from within) must come to an end.

Saw where former Ga Tech head coach Bill Fulcher passed away today. He still holds the shortest tenure as a tech head coach, 2 years. His experience at tech sucked so bad that he quit at age 39 after 2 years and never coached again.

Tech should keep Gee-off on the payroll, don’t fire him, but make him do some other job even if he keeps the title of “head football coach”. Give him an office somewhere away from the athletic offices and make him pick up trash or sweep floors. Make him do the new job until January so he can be fired and tech can save some buyout money.

Maybe he will get mad en0ugh to quit.

They got what they deserved for hiring a man who should wear a double extra large shirt but squeezes into an extra tiny for every ball game. Not to mention he probably uses Nair hair remover on his arms.

Logic would say can Todd Stansbury first and let Collins hang on the rest of the year until his buyout goes down. The entire athletic program is in a pile of steaming financial shit and the Waffle house buyout isn’t going to help. You would think all those brainiacs on North Avenue would at least be able to figure out to have a financially sound athletic program in these days of crazy TV money.

Maybe that’s what the board does. I hope so…

…because the idea of a techmite HC coaching for three+ seasons and escaping before getting a beating in Athens is anathema to me.

Not sure but I think the search committee is going after any coach with triple option expertise. I heard the Army and Navy coaches are interested. (I kid, I think).

Tech actually played well. They had a great play (maybe a TD- too many beers) but we’re called for illegal man down field. After that the wheels fell off.

Got Cowdog says he’s up for the tech HC job. Jameson in the water bottles and his ickiest of the stickiest for sale in the stands(once it’s legalized) along with four hotdogs and four Cokes.
“Epic press conferences”, Uncle Got says. I can see it now. HC Got Cowdog making his grand entrance onto Historic Mark Richt Field on his orange Kubota tractor, wearing piss-yellow and shit-black striped overhauls wearing a FTMF cap.
“How ‘bout them muthafukn’ Dawgs, bitches!”
    I’d buy season tickets.
