Rise and shine, people.
- Getting excited about Georgia’s secondary.
- Luckily, we can help with this.
- Renee Gork’s replacement doesn’t own a Gators hat, I bet.
- Chicken or egg? Big Six conferences average much higher recruiting ratings than their mid-majors counterparts.
- When Derek Dooley scrimmages, he covers everything: “… they’ll march into Neyland Stadium down Peyton Manning Pass and Phillip Fulmer Way. The Game Maxims will be recited, and the Vols will run through some sort of ‘T.'” Too bad the SEC doesn’t track pre-game standings.
- Herschel Walker vs. Bill Bates doesn’t have quite the same impact from the Vol perspective.
- Incredibly, Weslye Saunders is still staying at the Whitney Hotel.
The Tech stuff is the funniest thing I have read or seen in a long time. Everyone who looks at this should take the time to read it. A few of them kind of make you not hate them so much as you kind of pity them a bit. To paraphrase one the guy referring about an earlier posters comment on the Tech fans being generally respected by oppossing fans argues that that is not the case saying that due to “repressed sexual urges” and the like the current group of Tech students are a pretty salty and easily hated bunch. I wonder what could have transpired to give him that impression? Was it a conversation on the merits of Star Wars vs Star Trek he overheard among the rows of empty seats or perhaps one single Tech voice rose as one from the student section in unision as the band nerds corrected a member of the opposing schools marching band? Thanks, Senator!

Wow, who knew the housing situation was so bad in Columbia.

Wow. One of the nerds said that opposing fans should have the utmost opinion of Tech’s fans “because of the class and overall football knowledge.”
RIGHT.
I suppose if you consider “class” to be “vandalizing a rival’s football field on the rare occasions when you win there” and “football knowledge” to be the guy who was sitting behind me last year advocating for 65 yard Tech field goal attempts instead of punts and also bitching when Tech punted on 4th down deep inside their own territory, then, sure. Good point.

Weslye can check out any time he likes but he can never leave The Hotel Whitney because it’s like a co-ed dorm, only better.

I can say from experience that you don’t want to be in a Redcoat uniform in Bobby Dodd. Ever been nailed in the head with a battery from point-blank range? Not fun. Classy is the last word I’d use to describe those pricks.

I second the experience factor. Got nailed in the head with a frosted Coke there in 2003, which doubly sucked as it was about 10 degrees out and I had hair down to my shoulders back then.

Will Derek will use the Socratic method on the Game Maxims?
Will the Maxims be easier to learn than the Ten Commandments?

I like to imagine he was misquoted, sort of, and the Vols will run through a kiddie pool of iced tea before their scrimmage.

The teckies really miss the point, no one hates you when you’re ineffectual.

The White Sox and Orioles current series has highligthed Gordam Bekam. He has been on fire in this series. Let’s hope he continues to close out the second half strong. Bekam is a great ambassador for the Dawgs.
Also, for the O’s, Nate Moreau pitched a no-hitter for the Frederick Keys on 06/30 in this debut. Moreau has had a good season, but closes it down with his final start this Friday before he returns to Athens. The Keys are in the Carolina League playoffs.
It is great to follow the success of the Diamond Dawgs and the players of Coach Perino.

I am at least glad that the current DB’s are tired of see UGA in other teams highlights. That’s the only way we have been seen this year on ESPN. Maybe fear of being somebody else’s highlight will light a fire under them. (Boykin got burned bad in the ARK game too.)

One of the Tech commenters quoted another and then wrote his addendum:
“‘waltonbuzz wrote: We will be hated especially CPJ. It has already started with some schools. Just little stuff but the way he says things rubs some the wrong way. Just to be clear, I love the way he says stuff and these fans would love it to, if he were THEIR coach but when the “other” coach is saying it, sometimes they don’t like it as much.’
Yea, there is almost a Spurrier-esque quality to the digs that CPJ makes.”
Almost.

“Hell, I broke down and bought season tickets.” That is a quote from one of the Tech fans on the board you posted about them wanting to be hated. There are many reasons why not everyone can buy season tickets but the fact their “fans” have to have their arm twisted in order to break down and buy season tickets pretty much sums up all you need to know about their fan base as a whole.

The stuff in Columbia seems more serious than I originally thought. Now it is being reported that six players stayed there this Summer and were paying a pro-rated rate of $450 instead of the normal rate of $1200 a month. Thats akin to the situation at USC with Bush with less money involved. However I would bet that they six play against us.
